backup weapon for my DPUH/rubi zerker

im running a solo gunzerker in UVHM and i seem to be doing fine soloing most raid bosses but if i run out of ammo for my DPUH then i basically just lose the fight.

what guns would go well with my slag rubi that dont use pistol ammo?

not sure what you're looking for, but for medium/short range any Maliwan SMG should do the trick.

i was thinking of another high dps legendary/farmable wep that i can use to deal some good dmg while i regen my pistol ammo

Shotguns can do some pretty insane damage, and there are a few options there. Ravagers have insane DPS potential and are easily farmable from Torgue vending machines. A purple sinewy ravager makes paste of most on level enemies. You could also try for one of the Pearlescent shotguns, but those are a lot harder to find and not really worth the effort.

Alternatively, the Infinity doesn't deal great damage per shot but it fires extremely fast and uses no ammo. Could make for an acceptable sidearm if you just need to buy time while your pistols regen ammo.

some raid bosses can be easily beaten by a bee+hawk combo, best with the top skill of the left skilltree

This is a little bit unclear cos there are 'bazillions' of guns in BL2 lol but I'll try. Generally there are relics that increase your pistol ammo and there are other so-called 'Moxxi weapons' (with a health boost) aside from your Rubi & Grog Nozzle: Bad Touch, Good Touch, Heart Breaker, Creamer, Endowment, Kiss of Death, Hail, Chère-amie, Slow Hand, Kitten & Crit.

Aside from DPUH, there are some even more useful pistols available particularly for the higher levels of UVHM & the OP levels like the Maggie, Hornet & Thunderball Fists. You can also get new Unkempt Harolds (including double penetratings if you prefer those) by farming Savage Lee in Marrowfield (in eastern Three Horns Divide) and if you have the Torgue DLC you can buy new Unkempt Harolds (and DP's if pref) as Items of the Day in the Torgue Vending Machines (the one at Pete's Bar is good). Hornet can drop from Knuckle Dragger & Tball Fists from Capn Flynt, both on the Southern Shelf map. So far as the various suggested pistols, you can further research specs, drop locations and details on the BL2 wiki. Have fun

ive done research about all the other assault rifles/smgs/shotguns that are farmable but itd be so hard to actually test all of those out, all i need is a weapon that can do some good damage so that it can sort of compete with the harold but without having to overhaul my build, i just hate how if i run out of pistol ammo im basically dead or forced to use a much, much weaker weapon :/

For the OP 800 --- I see. Well, the only gun in the game with reliable ammo regen is the (Tediore) Avenger a superb SMG particularly for the higher levels of UVHM & the OP levels. A superb shotgun with occasional ammo regen best for the same levels is the (Hyperion) Butcher. Both are pearls that can drop from Legendary Loot Midgets and from WTH in Digistruct Peak. And don't forget to get one or more Stockpile Relics to boost ammo quantity(s) per gun(s). You know where to research all of these on the wiki (y)

I'm not a Sal expert by any means but if you're running out of DPUH ammo as a Zerker, you may want to consider switching to a Hard Unkempt Harold.

Shotguns work well. Interfacer/Conference Call provide high DPS and excel against bosses.
The Butcher is decent for clearing trash.

Jakobs shotguns synergise well with "Money Shot" due to their low mag size, high damage, firerate and solid reload speeds.
Hold them in your offhand to get the full bonus.

Leadstorm(s) (+ Bee) can be very efficient depending on the situation.

Don't get me wrong Torgue, Butcher is a great shotgun, it's just vastly more time consuming to farm than a decent ravager. Plus ravagers operate pretty similar to the Harold, filling the air with a ton of high damage explosive pellets at close range so it requires very little playstyle adjustment.

You could try and switch up for a deputy build. It can smash some, even if not all of the raids, is super light on ammo and offers a more challenging ( even if still rather easy ) playstyle.

I've been told that a Slag Pimpernel (left hand) + Moxxi Creamer (right hand) works well (not Slag Rubi though) if you only fire the Pimpernel. I've never been good with it though.

The only good thing about that is that it uses a completely different set of ammo (not pistol ammo).
