Best Shotgun in all of Borderlands 2?
I have not played Borderlands 2 in a long while and am looking for the best shotgun in the game to use for OverPower:8 Difficulty.

What is the best shotgun in the game?

My choice is Interfacer.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVv9Xrw1vLY
Interfacer or conference call.

The Butcher. It's not "the best" - it's the best for me, in my opinion. I don't believe in bests. There are other great shotguns in this game - Interfacer, Striker & Twister for me. Have fun :steammocking:

they are couple shotguns very good but some of them also are good for specific characters... most universal is practicable interfacer with maching parts...conference call. casual carnage.casual sword splosion. rusttlers twister. practicable butcher

Best Hyperion shotguns: Interfacer, Butcher, Conference Call.

Best Bandit shotguns: Sledge's Shotgun, Jolly Roger.

Best Jakobs shotguns: Orphan Maker, Striker, Non-unique Coach Gun, Twister.

Best Tediore shotgun: Omen.

Best Torgue shotguns: Non-unique Ravager, Swordsplosion.

Some guns are better than others depending on what vaulthunter you're playing as.

Doc's Striker is underrated imo.

Jakobs Grip and Hyperion Stock with.. maybe a Sight of your choice.

You now have a sniper-shotgun-ar which has the highest single shell damage (Note it's shell, not shot) in the game.

Guns need to match your playstyles to be good. If it doesn't match, it's not the best.

Agreed, tho I suggest practicing if you're struggling with a weapon. For example, I used to suck at using the Sawbar, but I got better and started shredding through enemies. I also struggled with the Jolly Roger, but I got better and started shredding. You should be able to use almost any gun, because you may come across a good weapon that doesn't match your playstyle.

I implied playstyle, as having fun. People love Torgue shotguns on Grenade Axton. Me? No I hate them so much as it severely linits crit damage and effective range. Sure I can shread. But why should I try using a weapon that I don't find fun, when I can just go farm a new gun of what I used to use?

Best shot gun is the carnage. Hardest to find though.

A lot of people would disagree.

Check out Vinylic Puma Gaming YouTube channel for many top weapons videos out there for Borderlands games. Top best, top worst, and many other vids. Hope this helps.

You should never listen to VinylicPumaGaming. That dude never knows what he talks about. A lot of good weapons, he thinks are bad.

Being on YouTube does not equate to knowing what you are talking about. There are some YT 'stars' that get it wrong. The better ones will admit when they made a booboo, say they are sorry and make corrections. VPG isn't someone I subscribe to.

You are all missing the best shotty in the game - the 1340.

Seriously though, the Butcher is more useful than the Carnage imo, and does seem to drop more often. Also, the Butcher cannot kill you like the Carnage will if you try to kill an enemy who is too close. Do not use a Carnage for the 'Open Wide' challenge. :) The Butcher does work very nicely for this one though.
The Striker is the one to use for the Shotgun Sniper challenge. The range of the thing is impressive. No other shotty comes close.

In general, I like the assorted Jakobs shotguns. Anarchy Gaige wielding a Jakobs Quad just makes enemies go away.

Torgue Ravagers do work very nicely, but their slow fire rate and reload are a definite downside. Certain enemies can close the gap to you very quickly and if you are in the middle of a slow reload, you can quite easily end up in a Very Tricky Situation.

On certain characters, the Carnage can two-shot and sometimes even one-shot enemies. Plus, the Carnage is accurate, so you have no problem hitting enemies at a range which means you don't have to worry about damaging yourself.

Striker is good, but I have an easier time hitting crits at a range with Conference Call and Butcher.

Torgue Ravager's reload speed barely matters to me, and the damage makes up for the fire-rate. I can easily two-shot enemies without needing to aim for crits.
