Commando best build?
Can anyone guide me or give me the best build for Commando? I want to balance gun damage, survival, and ability.

There is no "best" build, you should choose your build based on whether you are mobbing or raiding.

If you want a well-rounded class mod, then the best class mod for that is the Legendary Soldier class mod. It offers cooldown rate, gun damage and fire rate, but it also boosts other skills. This class mod has the best balance well-rounded mod for Axton. Unlike other Legendary class mods it boosts SIX skills, only two other class mods do that: Legendary Psycho and Legendary Mechromancer. Another huge positive about this class mod, is that all skills it boosts are tier 1 skills, so you don't have to invest too far into the skill tree to get to it

First skill it boosts is sentry, which will increase the shots fired, as well as the duration of your turret. This synergises well when you consider that the class mod reduces cooldown rate, so you will have your turret out more often and it will be dealing more damage.

Second skill it boosts is Ready, which will increase Reload Speed. This is very handy as you can reduce reload times considerably, allowing you to keep your DPS high.

Third skill it boosts is Impact, which will increase your Gun and Melee damage. While you won't care much for the melee damage, the Gun damage is a huge boost, and considering the mod already gives a Gun damage and Fire Rate stat boost, you'll be dealing a lot more damage, and much quicker too.

Fourth skill it boosts is Expertise, which will increase weapon swap speed and ADS movement speed. I don't like to invest too many skill points in this skill. It is a nice general boost, but typically you will have your main DPS gun, which you use, so the weapon swap speed is only handy if you go in FFYL often, where you switch to a Rocket Launcher or something to give you a boost.

Fifith skill it boosts is Healthy, because I am used to op8 I generally prefer to not put too many points in here, two is enough, because the class mod gives an additional 5 points. Shield > Health. This will help you survive some dangerous DoTs when combined with Forbearance, which reduces elemental effect duration applied to your character.

Sixth skill it boosts is Preparation, which will increase shield capacity and give you healing when your shields are FULL. For this reason it is essential to spec into Willing to the max as it will keep you alive longer, because it reduces recharge delay and increases recharge rate considerably. The boost from Pressure also helps in keeping your shield up.

This is how I would spec Level 72 Axton for Slag Turret and Nuke using that class mod:

This is how I would spec Level 72 Axton for Slag Turret and dual turrets using that class mod:

This is of course purely my opinion, and how I would build an all-round Axton. These builds would be good for mobbing, but definitely not raiding. But you wanted a general build, so here you go.

To each his own. This is how I usually spec an OP8 Axton for switching between a Legendary Soldier and purple 5/4/4 Grenadier com.

Find out what works for you and play around with stuff. Respeccing is not expensive.

Do you like your build that you provided in the picture?

I like it. I wish I could go down the middle tree to make better use of the Turret and pick up Do or Die, but I dont' find Ranger or Nuke worth getting, and having two slag turrets with short cooldown is good for most raid bosses especially on coop.

But with Ranger, it can boost everything by 5% at level 5.

Do or Die and a Fastball saves a lot of embarrasment and respawn fees. Spending one single solitary skill point is so worthwhile.

5% is nothing.

Better to boost Grit 10/5.

I don't think there's a way to get to the bottom of both trees and have Do or Die. But I sometimes spec into it and sacrifice Gemini.

I am undecided on getting down to Gemini. Sometimes very handy to have, but I find that Mag Lock and a single turret can be more effective. Stick a turret on a wall out of enemy reach and quietly pick the enemies off as they try to attack a turret they cannot reach.
Of course Gemini and Mag Lock lets you stick two out of reach turrets that create a nice crossfire...

Gah. There are just not enough skill points. At least with Borderlands you could get 4 additional skill points from completing Moxxi's underdome and Robot Revolution in both playthroughs. A skill point for each OP level achieved would be super nice to have. :grinsam:

i use mostly expert grenadier +6 on steady +5 on grenade or u can go with +6 steady +5 to impact.. i also use master grenadier for mobbing +6 grenade+ 5 steady and legendary soldier and for specific thing chaotic neutral tina com for fire rate and mag size and alwayes use mag lock its very good lot utility shield is not strong but can save u a lot of times from dots like heat loaders insted of hitting u it will hit shield...and for 1 point i think its worth it

Looks like a good build for damage though I'm usually too big of a fan of Grit not to take it for bosses.

For me the main problem in any Axton design is how stupidly his turret skills are scattered all over the place. They should have paid attention to the tree names and actually made one turret tree, one explosive/gun damage tree, and one shields/survival tree. [/rant]
