I'd say don't finish the firehawk quest line until you defeat the Warrior. The shield will likely be more useful going into UVHM as a fresh 50 than it would be at the point where you'd normally acquire it.
The strategy you describe only works if, after doing so, you target starting the third play through at level 50, with any important DLC gear already acquired. This is the key.
In the first two play throughs, you can easily get by with gear that is, say, 5-7+ levels lower than your own. This situation changes dramatically in the third. Also remember that In TVHM (the second play through), gear level is capped at level 50.
Also remember this: loot/rewards scale to your level in UVHM. But Enemies are at your level or often 1-3+ levels higher.
Plus UVHM baddies have more health, and you'll see more enemies with shields. Things are simply tougher everywhere. Your gear:level difference becomes far more important, as does the use of slag.
With all this in mind, now picture doing the DLC for its gear prior to starting the third playthrough. Imagine that in doing so, your level rises to, say, 52.
This means that you start UVHM at 52 with level 50 gear.
There you now meet baddies who are level 52-55+ with more heath, and who are often shielded, with level 50 gear. You've made the game much, much harder on yourself.
i would normally do the main missions first then sometimes to the side-quest after.
i think im just gonna play through like my main playthrough but only skip a few quests (lady fist, morningstar etc)
reason : all mission rewards will on-level..

2. In Normal and True, do storyline mostly and a side mission here and there for on level gear and to uplevel if needed, before tough bits (WEP, Bunker run, Southpaw, etc.) Torgue's is also good for this, as Lynchwood can be.
3. Finish Normal about 30, and True right at 50, then go directly to UVHM without farming.
Another quick question, do bosses/mini bosses scale to my level only when i defeat the warrior or do they scale as i level up?
