Borderlands 2 Lag on windows 10(Solved)
Hi, i am encountering low fps issues in this game. I have a modern pc that should run this game without any problems at all, but i seem to have have fps lag pretty often in this game.

I run games like battlefield 2 without a problem.

anyone have a fix for this?

It might be physx. Try turning it to low.
It kinda tanks the fps when there are many enemies and exploasions on screen
Turning it from high to low really helped me

Also try reducing bullet decals to low, it doesn't make much visual difference to be honest but after a large shootout anything higher will really impact FPS.
Smokey 2019 年 4 月 22 日 下午 12:51
Also if not already done then disable Game DVR in windows settings under games
DocStrangelove 2019 年 4 月 22 日 下午 12:59
Yeah, first thing to do is trying PhysX on low. It would also help to know what CPU you have and how low the fps really go.
Qosmius 2019 年 4 月 22 日 下午 1:13
I have put everything on low. The lag is kinda constant from the moment i boot up the game and when i am in the main menu. The lag continus when im playing and is always there, maybe abit more when there is alot going on but it is pretty much constant.

i have an i7-4720HQ 2,6

If this is your pc/laptop asus-x550jx then you do pass the minimum requirements
so only advise i can give is to try and disable some programs/apps in the background or try play in a lower resolution :/

ps. that cpu is 4th gen and we now have 9th gen, so guess its that part there drags most down in your laptop but hard to guess with so little info given
DocStrangelove 2019 年 4 月 22 日 下午 3:19
It's still important to know what sort of fps drops you're talking about. Down to 90? 50? 20?
Qosmius 2019 年 4 月 23 日 上午 5:27
I would say game runs at around 35-40 fps with all the settings on minimum.
I just want to play the game with smooth FPS, but seems like it will be a difficult task :/

Earlier i had a worse laptop than what i have now but it was on windows vista, it could run borderlands 2 flawless on medium graphics atleast....Now i run windows 10

i have an i7-4720HQ 2,6

that doesn't really say much
AND when it comes to gaming graphics cards or gpu is way more important than cpus

You do realize that this game was released back when everyone was still using 2nd gen Sandybridge cpus
and also this game depends more on gpu than cpu especially with the new hd textures

The HD texture pack is a free optional dlc which of course requires much more than the default textures "also says in the requirements, but OP has not mentioned this HD package anywhere and also doubt he is using that when complaining about low fps to begin with.

another thing: The physx effects are by default game setting generated by the cpu and same goes for people who plays with AMD cards there it can only be the cpu. But you can change this inside nvidia control panel to use the gpu instead if you got a nvidia card (try goggle this ;)

I found a fix. You have to go to compability mode and check a box called dont force to run in windowed mode or something like that..Now i run it at max graphics with no hiccups or fps drops.

Hm ok, that's odd. Your CPU should do more than that... I don't have any idea then

edit: oh you just found the solution... great!

Not in Borderlands, your GPU almost doesn't matter at all. CPU is usually the bottleneck here.

As I said if players were able to play this game on Sandy Bridge i3 and Pentium cpus back in 2012 and still got 60fps you should still be able to get at least that many fps on newer gen cpus.
I had a cheapo PC with Sandy Bridge Pentium with 2 cores no HT and ATI HD 6750 1gb and I was able to get 60fps most of the time

What is the meaning of "check a box called dont force to run in windowed mode"? Where can I find that?
