Basic strats.
Right at the start of the fight, before any minions have spawned in, hit him with as much fire damage as possible when he is unshielded. Get it right / get lucky and you can take a lot of his health down.
As soon as the minions fully spawn in and start shielding him stop shooting at him. At this stage there are options but basically you need to damage the minions so they go into repair mode and stop shielding him, then hit Hyperius with fire damage again. He won't generally go into rage / jumping mode when there are still live minions.
As a minion repairs, damage it again so it stops shielding him and carry on shooting Hyperius.
When he is down to about 20% health or so he will go into rage mode anyway, so you may as well kill any remaining minions and get on with it.
The middle phase can be tackled differently. Some people kill three minions and carefully keep damaging the last one so it stops shielding Hyperius. Others leave them all alive and keep damaging all of them. What works for you is a result of experimentation.
Grouping the all together works nicely for Zer0 and B0re. Not sure it is that useful for everyone. The problem with them all grouped together is that any damaged ones that go into repair mode will reflect your bullets back at you, while the undamaged ones will still be shielding him. Experiment I guess.
Keep the minions alive but damaged while you take Hyperius on. He is slaggable but sheds it very quickly. For more survivability, try a Chain lighting + Grog for healing when he double novas you.

You have another alternative which works for me most of the time when I want to visit Hyperious SOLO.
Two Double Penetrating Harolds AND two Corrosive Stopping Sandhawks because those SMG's are known for an unmatched level of power when used together with the Bee Shield.
Make sure all your gear is at the same level of your character (58).
When you run out of ammo with the pistols, use the SMG's and back and forwards.
Make sure Hyperius does not land next to you when he jumps and when you see him flying towards you...you run in the exact opposite direction.
Stay in the outer perimeter of the field running all the time.
Use MAgic Missile granades.
When in F mode use the Bee Shield...
When Recharging use the Antagonist Shield with 880 protection.
I rather use the Antaagonist all the time.
Make sure your Skill Tree has the all the right set up for a task like this. THAT IS CRITICAL.
Use the Explosive Resistance Bee Shield.
Use a LEGENDARY BERSEKER CLASS MOD
Use the RELIC BONE OF THE ANCIENTS with Corrosive Damage and Cooldown rate properties GRADE 15 (when using the Sandhaawks)
Use the Sheriff's BAdge relic when using the HArolds.
When RECHARGING go back to the Bone of the Ancients relic
There is more to it...but this is geetting too long. Good Luck
I'm still struggling to beat this guy. I've upgraded my Double Penetrating UH to level 60 (my level), I've got the Grog Nozzle, a lvl 58 Bee Shield, a purple level 58 fire grenade, a blue lvl 60 singularity grenade, etc.
So I feel like I have enough equipment to do the job.
But I just can't figure out how to get his shield down. I can get all the minions to break their laser beam link with him, but he still maintains a shield.
So my question is: what else do I need to do to get his shield down?
I tried getting rid of all the minions, but I don't last very long when he starts jumping around.
You need to disable the 4 minions, together.. Only when they're all "down for maintenance", his shield will be down.. I used to group them wih a Quasar, but any singularity grenade works..

Don't mind his life, cause this is pre "Fight for Sanctuary".. They buffed his life points, with the last DLC.. Part of the difficult you're passing, should be from the that..
Where's the best place to farm more Eridium?
Where's the best place to farm singularity grenades?
I've using a level 60 homing corrosive singularity grenade. It simply isn't powerful enough to get four minions shields down simultaneously. I guess I need to try a different type of singularity grenade. In fact, I don't have any weapons with enough splash damage to simultaneously get all four minions into repair. And that's my problem: without the ability to time the repairs just right on all four minions, I can't beat this guy.
I heard that the Ancient Dragons give the most, but you'll need eridium to get to them. Perhaps some NVHM boss first (e.g. Handsome Sorcerer, or my favorite: Pete's Bar Brawl). I get Torgue Tokens from the Bar Brawl, and I can clear the bar pretty quickly, so it's my favorite. The problem with clearing bosses at UVHM is that the XP gained is significant, which means there's a good chance you'll out-level your gear and have to farm them all over again.
Edit: Or play the jackpot. I hit 3 eridium once and received 84 pieces.
Pete's Bar Brawl is a great idea. And you're right: the problem with UVHM is XP outgaining my gear. Maybe I should just focus on dlc and story and come back to Hyperious when I'm lvl 72 and have farmed everything I need....
