DLC's....Best Time To Play?
Have about 25% left in the main game and I wondered since I have all of the DLC's.--- When is the best time to play them? Is there any best order to them? Thanks for any replies...Wet

I like to play them after beating the main story and please dont start tiny tina dlc (Dragon keep) until you finish the main story or you will enjoy a major spoiler

If it's your first time around, by all means do play them after Normal - way more fun with a wee less challenge.

if you plan on going for the long haul, play them after TVHM, or you'll be terribly overleveled throughout that...

First of all, be aware that the game has a huge amount of content. Technically, it has too much content for you to play it all effectively during Normal and TVHM.

In each game, you MUST play the main story in order to unlock the next difficulty.

During Normal mode of your first game, I recommend doing all the side quests built into the base game. This will mean you'll be somewhere in the 30 to 35 level range at the end of the main story.

Most DLC's cap out at level 30 in Normal. Tiny Tina and Sir Hammerlock are a bit more robust, those cap out at 35 in Normal.

What I'd recommend is that after you finish Normal, you move on to TVHM. Then, in TVHM, do the main story, but skip the side quests. Instead, do one or two of the big story DLCs to make up for the lost experience.

If you wish to progress on to UVHM, then your goal should be to hit level 50 right at the end of TVHM. Enemies scale with you in UVHM, but your old TVHM weapons do not scale. This means that in Normal in TVHM, being over leveled makes you stronger and makes the content easier. But in UVHM, it means that your weapons are under-leveled, and you're weaker as a result. The solution for this is to try to start UVHM exactly at level 50.

Once you're in UVHM, you can do any and all the DLCs, there's plenty of time to do everything.

WOW Nakos---Now THAT'S a reply. TYVM for your insight....this game IS enormous, and being the type that checks all lootable objects it too is a time consumer as well.So thanks again for the reply and saving me alot of time too.....Wet
UVHM, but you can play them whenever you feel like. Do keep in mind that they will have a level cap in Normal mode.

Nakos has a good point. I did it all wrong. having done some of the DLC after the main quest, and then again at the start of TVHM. Now I'm a bit over leveled and as such get pretty much zip XP from killing anything. Not to mention it being a bid easy. Well, there are still 2 other toons to do it right!

Alternatively, you can use UVHM saves from nexus mods if you want. I used and recommend these saves from nexusmods [www.nexusmods.com] as the dlcs haven't been played yet.

I would say try to finish the main story around level 28 or so, then do 1 or 2 short DLC's like the holiday ones. (Wattlegobbler, TK Baja's Bloody Harvest, Christmas thing) Then once you start TVHM, either do the rest of the short ones and finish TVHM, or do 1 long one then rush TVHM's story. In UVHM, you'll typically start at level 50, and you can do them in any order you want. The DLC's get partially locked to whatever level you are in UVHM - for example, bosses like Mister Tinder Snowflake from the Christmas DLC will scale to your level if you come back later, but the actual quests might still be at level 55 when you're level 70.

My recommended order:

1. Beat the game.
2. Do the Christmas DLC to try and farm for a good class mod.
3. Try to start TVHM around level 30ish.
4. Whenever you get to a part of the game you HATE, start a DLC, which will overlevel you and let you breeze through that part of TVHM.
5. Finish TVHM. If under level 50, consider grinding the Christmas DLC for loot. If at or over 50, start UVHM immediately.
6. Do whatever you want in UVHM. If you want to start Captain Scarlett or Tina's DLC now, you can go right ahead. Just keep in mind you can't reset them (to my knowledge) until you beat the main game in UVHM. So if the DLC's give any gear you want, you may have to restart the story, or hold off on doing them.

If you're playing as Krieg, it's potentially worth starting the Headhunter DLC asap to get the Rough Rider shield, depending on your preferences. In normal mode, the Firehawk, Love Thumper and Deadly Bloom do well enough.

Thx ya I.K.F. on the recommendation. This game is SO big & SO many things to do PLUS I have SO many other games in my library yet played I'm not sure I'll even get to UVHM. But hey thanks to all responders....Steams communities always kicks ass......Wet

If you want to play all of the content WITHOUT bothering with UVHM yet, and without the issue of overleveling, you can uninstall the UVHM packs. It will cap you at level 50.

Best time for me has always been mid morning to afternoon for playing them. Not sure if that be be your best time but try different times and see what works best for you. Order was easy to hard as the day progressed.

If you're not doing any UVHM runs I'd recommend starting the dlc in TVHM mode, otherwise all the enemies don't go above level 35.

Tiny tina dlc should be played after you finish the main campaign. Lilith dlc should be played after you finish all other content (main story + dlc). If possible, you should play lilith dlc after you finish/watch presequel and tales of borderlands.
