Read Only Farming Problem

Hello everyone, so I was just casually playing BL2 with Maya, and I wanted a good slag Rubi, but when I was testing to make sure that read only was active, it wasn't, and I haven't been able to get it to work. Any help? (Yes, i know I've been following all the steps correctly) EDIT: I have found a solution, I set the ENTIRE file to read only and it works, but I don't know why I can't choose my specific maya file and it work, and I know it's the correct file. Help would still be appreciated, thanks in advance.

How do you set only part of a file to read only?

before u turn in mission minimize game.. go u documents.. find u save u wish to read only... right click properties.. select read only.. apply ok... back in game..turn in quest... if u dont like it quit..slect character again and go continue.... u must go select character then continue..after u get item u wish.minimize game.. disable read only... back in game.. disable then enable.. badass rank to quick save u item.. done

This will not work. The .bak file must also be read only and Steam Cloud must be disabled. If you're going to advise, make it correct please.

I've done this personally with only the save file read only not the .bak version. I never enable Steam cloud though. Note that you can use this method to farm multiple variants of the same item by putting them in claptraps stash before each exit.

Yes, I have been doing everything necessary, but that isn't the problem, my problem is that the file just won't go into read only mode.

Do you need admin permissions or to change permissions on the saves folder?

No I do not, everything was working fine until then.
