The wiki is always a decent starting point.

The Gearbox forums contain a lot of info regarding the games mechanics, character skills and gear guides and pretty much everything else.

Last but not least there's tons of BL2 related content on YT.
I would understand if he/she wanted a Physical Copy of the Strategy Guide. I used to be that way, because back in the day, it would increase the value of you Game Collection. But, nowadays, the internet deems the Strategy Guides utterly useless, especially the digital copy. It's just another way of taking money from you.
Not to mention that games can change a lot more these days, many pieces of information from the strategy guide are probably quite outdated.
Just think of all the changes to skills, lootpools, droprates and spawn chances BL2 has recieved via patches and hotfixes.
But it's nice to read up on weapons, game main concepts, and a whole lot of stats.
But it's just a hobby, I like to have the book, even though in a practical sense it is useless.
Logically - a total waste of money. (BL2 doesn't need a strategy guide anyhow). But I do the same for a lot of games, Civ games, the lot. Never use it for "stragegy" I don't have a sense of satisfaction if I use a book or anything to help out.
It's simply a hobby, but totally unnecessary, and a total waste of money except for people like me who collect stuff. I would NEVER recommend a guide to help with the game, just for odd folks like me who instead of stamp collection, collect game memorabilier. I have a large collection of games CDs DVDs back to Sega Saturn, several 100. When disks became no longer necessary I buy a book instead. Not for everyone I know.
