Can't open game. Please Help!
I just bought the game but I can't open it. It just gets stuck when it comes to this openning window where you see the four main characters. Steams says that I have spent 20 on this game, but actually it's that I have spent a total of 20 hours on this window trying to solve the problem without even being able to get into the game. These are the things I'm sure:
1. The environment and drivers are all the newest versions.
2. The hardwares are far enough to play this game.
3. If I start with windows, it get stuck at the openning window I said before, and if I start with fullscreen, it becomes black screen and nothing happens.
4. Other games work perfectly on steam.
5. Have reinstalled the game several times, but still doesn't work.
6. I have tried almost every method on google, none of them were helpful in any way.
Please help! I'm really feeling I am stuck in this place

Make sure your security software is not blocking any game files.

Go to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Redist
Run the installers, you may have a dependency with corrupt file/s.

Thank you for replying. The only security software I have now is windows defender, I don't really think it would block any of my game files. Also I have ran all of the installers, but still it doesn't work. Do you have any other idea of what could have went wrong? Thanks again for replying

Go to your library, right click Borderlands 2, select properties, click set launch options and enter:
-nolauncher

Some have issues with the launcher.

You might try going to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Win32
Right click Borderlands2.exe and select run as administrator.

Sadly I have tried both before, and none of them seem to work... thanks for replying

have you verified your game files ?
to do this, in your Steam Library right click on Borderlands 2
go to Properties then Local Files and click on Verify Integrity of Game files.

Yes I have, countless times. It always shows that one file is missing and downloads it, then the same happens again and again, it never gets fixed. All my friends show this same issue but they have no problem playing the game. Do you have any idea of what I should do about this? Thanks for you reply.

Disable Defender just to see if it helps, worth trying since everything else doesn't do the trick. What's your specs btw? Are you sure your hardware can run this game?

I had an issue with the program settings and progress not updating, it might be related to your issue if the program is also getting blocked on your PC.

My issue is that Windows Defender in Win 10 denies access to certain protected folders that the game needs to use.

Bring up Defender, goto Virus & threat protection setting and scroll down till you find Controlled folder access.

***Keep in mind that allowing applications to bypass part of your computers protection is potentially dangerous.***

After I was able to isolate my issue being this part of defender I was able to click on Allow an app through Controlled folder access, and add the borderlands exe as an exception and my issue
went away.

Exe should be found in the steam directory at Steam\steamapps\common\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Win32

If you are still having issues you can do the same to the launcher, I dnd't seem to need that though so I haven't done that.

If this works for you then you won't have to disable defender to play. Hope it helps.

Your answer would be even more helpful, but... it's a 2,5 month old thread.
