The front of Flynt's head is protected from crits by his helmet thingy but it's possible to score crits by shooting thru the gap in front of his eyes. This is easier while Flynt's up above the attack looking down at it. When revisiting the area after these missions, Knuckle Dragger & Flynt can be farmed for those 2 guns at higher levels. I'd use these missions to practice taking them both down clean as possible in order to most easily locate the guns they drop - you'll be reusing this strategy throughout the rest of the game.
Please note that with some practice both enemies can be sniped to their deaths by taking cover and using the most accurate sniper rifle or other gun type in your inventory. KnuckleD at short/medium range from behind the corner in the room which can provide your cover til he appears & you open fire. CaptainF can be sniped to death from long range from the lowest floors of his ship as he sits on his throne as you lure him onto the girders above Claptrap's lift for Flynt's kill.
I dunno that it'll be useful but unlike other enemies with cutscenes Flynt can be attacked during his cutscene by things like turrets, Deathtrap, certain grenades et al. Have fun
Effective, but kinda cheesy. And doesn't improve the player's game for the things he will face later. I say, get in there, mix it up and try different things.
