Do only chubby/tubby enemies drop legendary class mods?
Sup, my whole question is pretty much in the title. I can't really be bothered to farm them on my own (i can't even get some to spawn in sufficient numbers) so i'd like to know whether there are viable alternative sources, e.g. the loot midgets during doctors orders etc.

Ordinary legendary class mods - Siren, Soldier, Psycho etc can be found anywhere and from low levels.
The other legendary mods will only drop in UVHM from tubby enemies at level 62+.
You can find Legendary Siren mods from level 20 or so. You will never see a legit Legendary Cat lower than 62.

The LLMs can drop the standard class mods, but will not drop the additional tubby only mods.
So to get the legendary engineer I really have to grind tubbies?

Yup.
Well, that sucks -.-
Thanks for your answers though

No probs. I usually farm the spiderants in the Dust behind Ellie's. Check outside the main gate, left and right. 2 spawn points and you can find tubbies there. Nothing? Head out back along Bug Gulch towards Boot Hill. Lots of spawn points. There are a lot of spiderant spawn points in the Dust and I have found tubbies at all of them except one so far. Try and run one over with a technical and the car just stops. Very little damage to the tubby :)
I prefer hunting spiderants because unlike Skags and Stalkers - no rabids!

Good luck :grinsam:
Thanks :)

Drive around 3 Horns in a car. Dont bother even jumping out unless you see a tubby. Boring, but its about the most chances of tubbies per hour possible.

The Dust is a nice place to farm tubbies, especially since you can go for a Lyuda, Veruc, Maggie/Slagga and Hammer Buster aswell.

If you´re not too afraid of rabids (and Skags can be easily jumped over to avoid any damage) , I´d recommend the Arid Nexis Badlands
It´s rather small with a good amount of spawns, LLM can appear and it has a couple of red chests aswell .

Basically it's either Vermi or the chubbies/tubbies/llm's or Terra (only for the Slayer mods). Your Lege Engineer is chubbies only. Aside from the places people have already mentioned, Hero's Pass & Southpaw Steam have been rich in these chubbies for me - make sure to open all lockers & chests including of course the reds.

Though the GBX site & the Wikia don't state it clearly anywhere, for me lege class mods have also appeared fairly regularly in certain red chests when farming in the OP levels - good examples are the one at the end of Hero's Pass just before the entrance to Vault of the Hunter & the one in Southpaw in-between Oney & Reeth that you reach by hopping down from the ceiling pipes to it atop a high platform.

Here's the wiki list of all Lege Class Mods (and all other lege items) & where to find them if you want to bookmark it - scroll down to the "List of Legendary Items (Borderlands 2)" & consult the four columns Item Type / Model Name / Dropped By / Location ... http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Legendary#List_of_Legendary_Items_.28Borderlands_2.29

Another way to get Legendary Class Mods is buy the Marcus Saves Mercenary Day DLC and you can kill the final boss and farm the 2 Marcus Chests you get for killing him.

You only get the vanilla Leg. COMs this way, not the gen 2 ones though.

Oh right. I wasn't sure if you could get them all because I'm very unlucky with getting anything so I was unsure. My bad, thanks for that though.

To the OP - you didn't mention whether or not you wanted Modded Lege Class Mods from installing third-party software in addition to the natural ones in the GBX game so I didn't mention them earlier. But there are a number of Modded Lege Class Mods if you want them in the Unofficial Community Patch (*UCP*) - most of them are +25 or +30 point Lege orange versions of what are normally +5 to +13 point Non-Lege white/green/purple class mods in the natural game. For example, a popular Modded Lege Class Mod for Maya in the UCP is the +25 point Lege Trickster which doesn't exist in the natural game. If you're interested to learn about the UCP and its Modded Lege Class Mods, here's a link https://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/t/unofficial-community-patch-thread/1557735 Have fun :steamhappy:
