Axton or maya?
Starting a new play through soon, probably going to play all the way through to op8, so just wondering should I be Axton or Maya, and if there are any good builds for either of them. I'm not going for which one is more overpowered, just which is more fun. Also say in the comments if you're interested in joining me 🙂

Edit: thanks to everyone who contributed, I've decided to go with Maya. :)

Both

EDIT: I went further with Axton. I found Maya boring around the high 60s and just abandoned her. PL makes most enemies easy, but, is useless against raid bosses and some other big baddies. So its a frustrating skill, IMO.

Maya! Axton may be more rounded out in upper levels, but I have this thing about army guy gaming, ick. OK, Axton may be a good choice, I just don't like him.... yes I know he is not a real person but his echo..... not some one I would want to have my back LOL

Also I enjoy Maya more anyway... heck how am I to know what YOU should do?

Maya is mostly focused on dealing Massive Elemental Dps. There are a lot of good builds out there. Some focus on Healing yourself and your Team and as i said dealing massive elemental damage. ( Beeshield and Sandhawk/Pimpernale)

Axton is motly used for his Granade Skills/Mods and Kill skills. His turret is good at the first 2 playthrouhs but after that the turret/s are beginnig to be usless and just used to slag enemys which isnt bad. (Granadier Mod and the Fastball)

Axton is useless in endgame. Well, so is Maya.

Wrong. None of them are useless, if you know how to play them.

Seriously, of all the players and characters that I have played with OP8 Axton and Maya have far exceded the countless underachiever Sals that I have played with.

I've played through the whole game to OP8 with Axton and OP6 with Maya. Coop partner for the Axton run was using Maya. Both kick butt cheeks right through to the final level.

My OP8 Mayas and Axtons said that you are talking crap. I have two of each and three of the four were done solo.

OP. Asking here for which character to play next will get you conflicting answers. Everyone has their preferred character.
Try both. Get them to Sanctuary and beyond so that you have an idea of their skills and then decide who to concentrate on.

I personally prefer Maya. Axton's skill hits harder, but has a longer cooldown time and I find it harder to get the rhythm right. Maya's skill is more about control than damage but it's also more dynamic, the rhythm is shorter and I find it more comfortable. Maya's skill also slags everything.

On the other hand, Axton's skill is much more consistently useful against bosses.

Your call.

"It really depends on your playstyle, etc."

Seriously, it's all down to how you want to play the game (or which character you just happen to like better.) I'll echo this guy's words because it's exactly what I would say otherwise.

Go Maya.
PL for me personaly felt quite boring in the eraly levels but soon became quite awesome later on. Yes it is kinda useless against bosses but is an awesome CC for all the other enemies a free slag so you dont need a weapon slot for that and holy hell if u got some serious AOE and a big enemie group ahead they gonna have a bad time. The DMG of PL can be quite recognizable as well and the elemental dmg is sick.
I personal dont like the Axton turret that much as its less "active". Meaning that it got a way higher CD and is pretty much working on its own after deployment.
I didnt play him for a few years and just started playing bl2 3 days ago after 2 years of break so my knowledge of axton is not really fresh. But from what i can remember it felt like Maya has more intresting options to built and a more engageing playstyle.
