You say starts and goes away, the launcher start and go away or the game after you click play?
If the game is not launching from the launcher, you can go to your library, right click Borderlands 2, select properties and click Set launch options. The enter -nolauncher and see if the game will launch (this has worked for many)
You can go to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Win32
Right click Borderlands 2 and select run as administrator to see if that works.
You could go here and run all of the installers.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Redist
You should not have to, but some times something can cause a file to become corrupt and you may not even get an error message. Anyway, if those are not working it can cause the game to do that, like the C++ or dx etc.
Eh, sorry that it wasn't cleary worded, what happens is that I start the .exe file, either through steam or through opening the file itself. It doesn't pull up the launcher, nor does it just start the game. it immdediately closes the file instead.
Then do this part:
Run installers @:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Redist
If that fails make sure your anti virus/malware is not blocking the game.
a) delete documents/mygames/borderland 2 folder
b) delete Borderlands 2 with steam then manually go to steam/stamapps/common and delete borderlands 2 folder (if there is the folder, otherwise is ok if not)
c) be sure to have latest video drivers installed
d) reinstall borderlands 2
e) exclude borderlands 2 folder from your AV
f) install / update your directx by googling "Directx Redist June 2010" this will update your Directx 9 to latest version and it will not ruin your directx10+
g) update/ reinstall net framework to 4.0
h) disable any overlay like twitch, discord, riva tuner, fraps etc
This helped couple players fix the issue and be able to play.
You are welcome :)
