Early Game Maya Guide

Go for healing class mod, spec into motion tree Accelerate, also sweet release for healing at least 3 points, Suspension and converge pretty obvious why, Wreck also pretty obvious, for early game,

Shields turtle for survival usually start appearing at level 9 Sanctuary.

Grenades whatever floats your boat, but tesla grenades strip shields and are pretty good, start appearing around lvl10.

Great with any weapon but especailly SMG's.
Relics grab a cooldown one for your action skill usually start appearing around lvl 14.

Once you reach lvl 30 or so respec if your going for a specific build.

Suggest cloud kill later on and definately ruin.

Sweet Release and Cloud Kill are the best

Early on, you want a point or two in Sweet Release, because that's how Maya heals herself.

In the early game, Phaselock is a temporary Crowd Control on one target. Later on, it becomes a powerful offensive tool for manipulating entire fields of enemies, weakening them and even killing some of them, but in the beginning, it's just very limited Crowd Control.

Following that, I would recommend working towards Cloud Kill. Foresight is probably your best choice, but Flicker isn't awful either. Immolate is "okay" but more situational. Helios is the weakest of the tier 2 skills (IMO).

Outside of Sir Hammerlock's house there's a weapon machine. Check it and see if you can find a Maliwan Fire pistol. Both Bandits and Bullymongs are highly vulnerable to fire.

Some people might suggest farming Knuckledragger a bit until you can get yourself a Hornet. (A legendary Corrosive pistol).

Maya is good with elemental status effects, so pick up a few of those Fire, Corrosive and Shock weapons and give them a try.

Maya also makes a good sniper. Try to learn where the crit spots are when you have something Phaselocked.
