Either way, go for the stopping prefix (damage) in the element u want.
The Sandhawk is a very powerful gun because of burst fire when Aiming Down Sights (ADS) - lots of bullets in a very short time is the reason it it is effective. Sal cannot ADS when gunzerking. It really isn't the best match for him.

Much better and faster way:
Before walking over to scarlett, readonly your save000x.sav and save000x.bak. You will have to figure out which one are for your character first. Turn off cloudsave too. Now you can accept every sandhawk, only keeping the ones you take to your stash, and then save/quit. If you reselect character, it will load the readonly version on disk, which never got the gun. Merely continuing uses the file in RAM, which has whatever sandhawk you just accepted. Way faster than restarting the game each time. Just remember to unset the readonly bits on you save and its backup, and to not restore from cloud when asked, if you turn it back on.
You need to reload the character in the main menu every time that you save and quit, or it'll draw data from RAM. This bit is key...
Well, considering that readonly setting/unsetting is done via explorer interface, I will not worry about those that cant be bothered to learn or ask about this elementary file management task. I mean, you own a computer, right?
