Oh i love both Axton and Gaige
idk people say shes boring but i find her ricocheting builds strangely satisfying to use
she's like this guy:

but yea Deathtrap is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ useless..
only way to make DT good is with a good Roid shield
but still its amobea AI makes it very unreliable .. most of the times he gets stuck
would much rather use my good ol' butcher
I did this playtrough at 2x gamespeed co-op with a friend of mine who was playing gaige.
As he likes a challenge - like I do - he decided to see if he could make deathtrap usefull, since he refused to spec into Close Enough.
At times I was astonished at how well DT performed.
Granted, it took all his skill points, and he himself was weak af compared to both me and Deathtrap. But it seems you can make it work if you put enough effort in.
Even at stuff like the OP levels it seemed to work.
I would take care of the surveyors and whatnot using phaselock at the peak, and when I returned my attention to regular mobs, or even minibosses such as assasins or the badass spawn prior to omgwth, all or most of them were gone.
It also has niche applications, for example during the ancient dragons of destruction.
If you unleash DT in the face of a landed dragon, it will stay focussed on this dragon.
What this means is, pretty much as soon as it takes off, it gets pulled back down - after flying a single lap.
This effectively doubles the time you have to take down a landed dragon, if your team agrees to just hold fire while DT pulls said dragon back down.
I'm not saying Gaige is a very enjoyable character to play. Just pointing out that its not all bad.
Plus because of the nature of it's spread, It's great for taking out Buzzards, and literally melts Hyperion units.
Haven't played Axton very much, but doesn't he have all sort of bennies with an Assault Rifle?
In general in this game, choose elemental types by enemy weakness, rather than character affinity. For example, if you are fighting something explosive resistant with explosive-buffed Axton, you are better off switching to an element the enemy is weak to and saving a ton of time and ammo.
