Early game Gaige skills?
What are you guys using in the Normal, through True mode with gaige's skill tree?

I can see what ones look very useful in UVHM and the Peak, but what should I focus on getting in the first, say, 30 levels? Any suggestions appreciated! Currently at level 25.

I like to start with close enough from the green tree, then spec down the anarchy tree. Basically this is Normal mode for me:

Thanks! I think that's towards what I've got too. Will double check shortly.

First - regen while your mag is loaded.

Second - anything that boosts elemental, and only use elemental weapons.

Third, as soon as you can get them; Deathtrap's Lazer beam (I think it's the middle tree), and Deathtrap's "regen an ally's sheild" (yes, YOU do count as an ally).

Anyway, that's what worked for me.

And as a "keep an eye out for it" any relic that increases Rocket launcher ammo, and any Rocket Launcher that has BOTH a fast reload speed and the "goes off like a bomb when reloading" (watch which way you face when reloading, it's an easy way to get killed).

I recall picking close enough and anarchy first and comboing it with explosive shotguns because explosions everywhere was funny. Since I wasn't able to get a crazy amount of anarchy stacks (no need for more than 150 during normal) yet I could somehow hit close to the enemies resulting in 50% of bullets bouncing and hitting the enemies and 50% exploding near them.

From here I decided to 5/5 Blood soaked shield because 100% shield recharge on kill is cool.

I think it's interesting how different people have different things that "work".

wouldn't it be better saving the "Anarchy" skill for late TVHM, just before entering UVHM?

I'll have to take a look at the Anarchy tree again. I totally hate the .. smaller/faster/whatever (top left that renders the infinity pistol unusable); I LOVE to max out my ammo and boost it with artifacts, so that skill is never going to be a favorite for me.

But that's just me.

Sounds like it works great if you build with it and like it.
LightChaosman Feb 14, 2017 @ 9:33pm
Having more forced reloads (and faster reloads) is beneficial for gaige, since you will build anarachy more quickly.

The infinity is hardly a good gun, plenty of better choices out there.
If you really want to keep using the gun, you could combine it with a necromancer class mod which (can) boost magazine size. The skills it boosts are kinda... meh...
Besides, the inifinity wouldn't be the best gun with more than 200 anarchy anyway. high-pellet guns are much more viable.

Either way, if you haven't played anarchy gaige, you're missing out on a big part of her. (Its worth it, trust me)

Why would it be? It's her most efficiently damaging and powerful skill tree. That's how I levelled mine.

I get that I'm missing out. and I'm having wild fun, so I'm totally willing to miss out.

I love the infinity pistol mostly because of fun. If only it would talk. I also love boosting my elemental damage and seeing the multicolored floating numbers of bad-a*sery above my dying targets.
LightChaosman Feb 14, 2017 @ 9:55pm
To each their own.
Anything goes in NVHM / TVHM really.
An experienced player can probably steamroll the game even with just a single skillpoint - to enable the action skill - with any character on these difficulties.
Any skills just make it a bit easier & add to the fun factor.

Having said that, be warned tough. The "multicolored floating numbers of bad-a*sery" will have little to no impact once you reach UVHM.
It will be like trying to punch a hole into a metal wall using a toothpick, all whilst the metal wall is somehow repairing itself and laughing in your face.

That's exactly what I did just now finishing my gaige tvhm run, I specced into anarchy just before enterning heros pass. I also got the fibber before then too. Holy sh!t how much does that just lay waste? I'll tell ya, every muthaf*cker dies.

Smaller light faster kicks butt for reload. And you loose a percentage, not an amount of ammo, so on normal guns you go down like 1 round. Meh.
muchdebate Feb 14, 2017 @ 10:08pm
Well for super-skilled folks "anything" may go, but for me TVHM is a different gig to normal. I like it, but I'm definitely having to re-learn to keep my butt moving to confuse the various AI's.

I love elemental stuff, I love grenades and I love visual effects... and DT.

Someday I will play with an exploding reloading rocket launcher with maxed out anarchy. And that will be fun too.
LightChaosman Feb 14, 2017 @ 10:12pm
That's a good sign. It means you're learning the game & gaige's mechanics.
MV75 Feb 14, 2017 @ 10:17pm
DT is good in normal and about half way through tvhm. That's what I found anyway. I was dying a real lot just getting through tvhm because of how damn useless dt had become. Stupid thing was never there when I needed it, and it'll just stand there not attacking. I grew to hate it. Worst character skill ever. I was fully specced in that bff tree too. I'm definitely respeccing my character to have nothing to do with DT. I was hardly summoning it near the end because I had no control over where it would exactly appear or who it would attack, it would either just stay where it was summoned or just randomly fly off to fight something leaving me on my own anyway.
