Can I change from 32 bit to 64 bit?
Whenever I launch borderlands for some reason it starts the game up in 32 bit mode. I have checked my pc specs and im on windows 10 64 bit. I also have 8 gigs of ram and im still not sure how to fix the issue. If someone could help me that would be great!

That's because the game was made as a 32bit program. Though I love the game and people who made it, but making 32 bit games nowadays is just plain stupid knowing how much better 64bit programs performs, especially for complicated coded games.

It wasn't stupid in 2012 when the game was released, as there were far less people using 64 bit systems. I would imagine making it 32 bit helped increase its sales.

But even so, it would be better to make it 64bit as that is abled to be used on 32bit systems. Makes no sense to not use the superior option even though everyone can use it.

Not true. You can run 32 bit apps on a 64 bit OS, but not the other way around.

If a program (like borderlands 2) was designed and coded for 32bit OS than running it at 64 bit would give you literally no benefits at all.

actually,32 bit pc is unable to run a 64bit app

a 64bit pc can run a 32 bit app without a single problem

i dont see why anyone would want this to happen,it would disable some people from playing, without getting ANY benefits

Thx for the feedback! So there is no way to change it is just 32bit?

Yeah, no way to change it unless you has the source code that was used to make the game. With some major coding and programming skills, you could make it 64bit and release it to everyone

I'm sorry for necroposting, but I don't want to crush all hopes for anyone who still finds this page:
there's a way to make the game use more available memory: https://ntcore.com/?page_id=371.
This patch can actually help with 32-bit executable associated problems and also with the game crashes (it works for me on Win 8.1).

Also, I'm not the one who found this. More info here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/49520/discussions/0/864979455459953873/.

Some game devs made both 32 bit and 64 bit exe for their games.
I assume that would cost extra resources to support both versions but it would indeed be perfect if they did.. this game would finally utilize multi core processors fully too and those with weaker PC's could still use the 32 bit one.

Sadly its way too late now.

32-bit games on a 64-bit computer actually makes more problems than having the game on 64-bit while having a pc on 64-bit. Why won't people just try to find a solusion for this, people actually have really big problems with 32-bit games, for example Tmodloader with 32-bit on a 64-bit computer, Tmodloader will only have 4gb of memory so you can't install mods.

Actually, having a 32-bit program on a 64-bit OS will actually CAUSE more problems instead of just having it the same as running a 32-bit game on a 32-bit OS.

No, it doesn't cause any problems over runnign the game on a 32bit OS. It just does not have any benefits of a 64bit OS/Processor.
