Once you have finnished the game you will enter True Vault Hunter mode, the pistol there will be around lvl37. After finnishing TVHM you will enter Ultimate Vault Hunter mode, all the enemies and the loot will scale up to your lvl.
the op levels are essentially levels 73 through 80, they were add ons accessed through the UVHM 2 add on pack
and this is the right place to come to learn, just ignore the snide comments from some of the trolls here
If you mean combining them, no it's not possible.
Steam has a ton of guides which can give you a deeper look into the game and the mechanics, also the Borderlands wiki is quite decent.

Happy farming!
Just a thought, not every legendary is necessary good. Sometimes a blue or purple rarity can be much better and even the green ones, if your loadout is outdated.
Besides, you'll outlevel things so fast right now that farming is a huge waste of time. If you get an incidental drop while playing, sweet! But I wouldn't waste my time farming.
one more off the wall suggestion pick up a lascaux you go right past it on the hunting the firehawk mission, google for more info. It is a very good blue, close to some legendaries
The Infinity pistol isn't necessarily a bad gun, it does have its viable uses with some characters and builds. The problem is that many tend to rely on it far too much, and it can tend to get you into trouble if you become too complacent in its use.
The Infinity's non-concentrated firing pattern means that you tend to aim down your sights when firing it at an enemy to try to concentrate its fire, to the detriment of your peripheral vision and slower movement. The gun's lower damage per round means that it is naturally paired with the lower-capacity Bee shield for the amp damage that shield provides to each round. Even with the Bee, you often need to spend a longer time focusing your fire on an enemy to kill them. All of these points lead to vulnerability, especially when mobbing in places like Digistruct Peak.
This gun does have its benefits. I'm learning just how useful it can be at the OP levels with Zero's "One Shot One Kill" and "Followthrough" skills, allowing me to farm the Warrior for instance without needing much ammo. Maya, sparingly, can make good use of this gun at times as well. But overall, especially in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, there are far, far better pistols out there that share the Infinity's lineage but not its weaknesses. Not to mention far better guns of all types that better deserve one of the cherished spots in your limited backpack space.
Regarding farming, as others here have indicated: don't even think about it until you are almost done your second playthrough. Even then, relics and class mods may be the only thing you farm then. Save farming for the third playthrough (UVHM) when all gear you find scales to, or close to your current level.
The Infinity is a fairly quick farm from Doc Mercy. Either using the geyser already mentioned or a car to get up to his lair quickly, each run takes just over a minute. As legendaries go, the Infinity isn't that uncommon a drop.
