Oh, damn -- too bad the game's already been released or we would have corrected it!

Hey FYI the official name of the game is indeed Praey for the Gods. The name was changed during development due to a trademark dispute with another studio. You should easily be able to find the game on the storefront by searching for the correct title, Praey for the Gods :)

He’s being sarcastic. They know. Bethesda forced them to change the name from “Prey” for legal reasons. And yeah we all agree it was a lame thing to do.

Company trademarks are required for many different reasons. Personally I love the new title and find it more unique.

Silly, havign to change the name, Prey and Prey for the Gods <--- sheesh it has a longer title, so anyone using the word Prey can have a trademark dispute now....

its not like a game Frontier and another game FRONTIER both in early access and both look as if they have been abandoned (2 games, differant styles, robbed me of money).

Unique or not but it's look very strange right now, prey on pics and praey in name.

How the hell can you trademark a word like Prey? I don't get the original lawsuit threat crap. At this time that other studio should be praying for player/buyer forgiveness over their pathetic treatment of the gaming community and their own clientele. Do they even have time to go around bullying small studios? I guess you find spare time when you swap canvas bags for cheap nylon trash liners.

They didn't trademark the word. ZeniMax (not Bethesda) trademarked the commercial usage of it in video game titles.

My guess is if these guys would have challenged it they would have won, but that would have taken time/money which smaller developers dont have tons of.

♥♥♥♥♥♥ move on Zenimax plus their "Prey" game is total ♥♥♥♥♥.

Well like I said earlier, it is important to secure copyright claims in popular media nowadays. It's not as clear-cut as being mean to other people. ZeniMax themselves had to buy the rights to the word "Prey" from 3D Realms.

It is different though if their game had been called "Prey" then yes. but if zenimax goes after people just using prey as part of that title that is stupid for example

"Prey I dont punch you in the scrotum" a new first person ♥♥♥♥/ball punching game coming this spring.

Again, it's not really a choice. If you hold a copyright trademark, you are expected by law to preserve its integrity.

Too polite to just say Bethesda were being absolute c*nts about it, hmm?
