i mean they are horde shooters.. just with more to them than just shooting hordes
if someone likes horde shooters they are surely gonna like games like helldivers 2 too
Helldivers 2
Deep Rock Galactic
Darktide
Vermintide
Dying Light
Dead Island
are all better games then GTFO's dog trying to remove worms gameplay with a singular loading screen stealth mechanic.
I get better "horde shooter/stealth" gameplay out of playing Squad than GTFO. They are not even the same genre.
I've played most of those except Dead Island, because Dying Light did everything better. I also haven't played Helldivers 2, because it doesn't have GeForce Now support and is still full-price.
Dying light 1 was always superior to dead island. Never played the others of those series, so couldn't comment on them beyond review reads.
I would have recommended starship troopers extermination...but, hold off on looking at that game until they fix their optimization ♥♥♥♥ and commit to a design direction (hero shooter vs an actual starship troopers game).
How many people are in the queue?
however, mm is janky, you might have to press matchmake more than once because sometimes it finds less players at a time than the amount of ppl you require for full lobby
it looks like majority of ppl who are against mm are either "veteran" players who never bothered to touch it since r8 release, or ppl who are upset it didnt find full lobby first try and call it a day
just give it a few clicks and it finds a team within 5 minutes (which includes choosing level and discussing loadout strat)
Left 4 Dead 2 - it's old but still a gem and active community
Deep Rock Galactic - Dwarves, guns, beer, mining and shootin' bugs Very fun game. Free battle passes and TONS of earnable skins.
Warhammer Vermintide 2 - if you like a more classical RPG stle of play in Warhammer universe. Wait for a sale you can pick it up for like $5 and well worth it.
Warhammer Darktide - Good game with issues that have taken some time to address, wait for a sale or wait another 6-12 months for it to polish some more.
Back 4 Blood - Kind of sucks in my opinion. It modernizes Left 4 Dead but lost a lot of what made Left 4 Dead special in the first place. A lot of copy pasta and play the same maps a lot during the campaign.
GTFO - Good game but solo is very hard, especially if you don't have a friend to teach you the mechanics of the game. You will die A LOT learning the game solo. Play it with a friends or perhaps skip it, unless you are up for the challenge.
Ripout - Only played a demo of it roughly 6 months ago, kind of an interesting game. Sort of has a hybrid mashup of Doom, Left 4 dead and GTFO melded into one. Critiques I had for the game were gun play felt shallow but it sounded like devs heard that feedback and were going to work on it. I haven't checked into the game since though.
Killing Floor 2 - In a way it is kind of like CoD zombies, there's are around a dozen classes, good amount of unique zombie designs. It is round based with ability to buy weapons with money earned from killing zombies between the rounds. Think it even goes up to 8 players. With a full lobby the game can be absolute carnage and is a blast to play. Can usually find this on sale for $5 and it is definitely worth it.
This is all I have off the top of my head.
