It's definitely not ruled out that GTFO will come to platforms other than PC, but it's safe to say that Linux has lower priority than, say, PS4 and XBO.
If you don't do fancy stuff later on, like using a DRM or anti-chat mechanism that's atm known to not work, or using codecs (mfplat) that are known to not work... you're got to go with Proton.
I played the first 24h Alpha test on Linux with 3 friends (they were using Windows) for about 4.5hrs. Even streaming it was not an issue. performance was pretty good. Atm I would give it a Platinum rating on ProtonDB or even do a whitelist request on the Proton Github tracker.
PC = MacOS, Linux, DOS, Windows, BeOS, Serenity, BSD, etc.
I'm also interested in a native GNU/Linux build of the game if ever possible.
