This is actually a disgrace
The expansion packs they have released now, are fine, nothing wrong with it. But I am not playing this game anymore because there are just not enough rides. And now they are finally giving players new rides. (About darn time btw) but they hide it behind a thick paywall. Wish I asked for a refund. Thank god I have RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 on Steam.

you mean the deluxe edition?

No, I was expecting the older DLC's to get a price cut during winter sale. I own the original game, so I cannot buy the deluxe expansion for a reasonable price.

Fortunately, some developers still have a morality and release free updates of their product even 2 years after their release (transport fever has just had a patch while the game has been out for 2 years without any DLC pay ... )

Ummm, what exactly have the Dev's of Transport Fever given you for 'free' other than fixes in those patches?

Complete List of Transport Fever Release Notes

Don't get me wrong. The Patches and fixes are good for the game. They just aren't something that anyone should have to pay extra for. Whereas in Planet Coaster you are paying for things that actually contribute to your gaming experience. In addirtion, Planet Coaster has given the players several free content packages that included actual content for the game:

Anniversary Update

Planet Coaster’s 1.4 Anniversary Update follows our free Winter, Spring, and Summer updates with new content, rides, and features. During our fantastic Frontier Expo we already showed you the following things:

Scenario Editor – giving you the tools to create your own custom scenarios and share them with the community through Steam Workshop!
Three new rides – the Weisshorn (a classic fairground ride), the Hop The Gaps (a rickety side friction ride), and the Cascade (our first water coaster).
Staff Management building – a place for your staff to rest and receive training.
A host of picnic benches – allowing you to create food courts and plazas!
Interchangeable coasters – this lets you switch coaster trains to other types of track allowing for maximum flexibility.
But wait... we’ve got a little bit more!

Firstly, due to much community feedback after the Weisshorn’s reveal at FX2017, we created the Monte Leone. This ride is a smaller and more compact version of the Weisshorn; it has the same mechanical cover and sequences as its bigger brother but it has no roof and a smaller control booth to allow you to customise your own look and feel for the ride.

At Frontier Expo we mentioned one more ride for you, so meet the Zenith coaster! The Zenith is a master class in rollercoaster engineering; it’s a hydraulic launched coaster with a top speed of 175mph that roars vertically up an enormous ‘Top Hat’ element that’s been custom made with a complex support system to include vertical incline and drop rolls for the ultimate thrill for your guests. The train has a sleek, high speed design to make this the complete package.

As well as the much requested picnic benches, you can also decorate your food courts with themed canopies, as well as a few new autumnal trees! We cannot wait to see the beautiful plazas you’ll create.

Yes it should. Just for fun, go check the amount of rides in the RollerCoaster Tycoon games. Games are from 1999-2003/04. The difference is just too big.

The rides in RollerCoaster Tycoon 1, 2 and 3 took a considerable less amount of development time and resources. Rides in Planet Coaster are way more advanced when it comes to art, animation, level of model detail and gameplay. Nowadays it takes at least 1,5 months to develop a single ride for Planet Coaster

The comparison is a bit unfair imo.
I think it’s a fair comparison. Remember that roller coaster tycoon was coded in assembly language and all the art and animations had to be hand made. Modern animation tools and development tools make the process much easier.

I fundamentally disagree with the thread. Frontier does free updates along with the rides and scenery pack DLC.

Rides have already been given away for free with most patches. I'm a bit surprised they went with a ride focused DLC. All of them seem pretty high quality to boot.
Niek Dec 22, 2018 @ 1:07am
Yep i agree. Felt this way the second DLC got released.
Stronkie Dec 22, 2018 @ 1:23pm
The rates how the DEV's are pumping these DLC out is plain out stupid. 6 times 10,99 = €65,94 and 3 small ones each 3 euro . Grand total of aprox. €75,- . Then the Game itself , then the VIP ticket (I bought the game in early acces , paid a lot for it)

So nope will not buy all DLC anymore. I have not done since the last two. Most of the rides they should bring out for free. At least show us more , also increase the time when you bring out new DLC.. This is getting out of hand. Don't get me wrong. But I would not even spent over the 120 euro to any AAA game inc all DLC :)

Or just come out with a proper DLC with all 6 DLC combined for 30 euro. I would be for that. Or bring out a season's pack

Why are people moaning about DLC packs if you dont like the price dont buy them simple as im a big gamer on pc and console so ive come a custom and excepting that most modern games are going to charge you extra for addons but i must admit the game could do with lots more flat rides and kid rids
Wildboy1983 Dec 22, 2018 @ 11:51pm
If people insist on making direct comparison to RCT 3 it should be also noted that at the time of launch the retail price of the game was around £27.99. this was back in 2004. I remember purchasing planco for less than this at time of launch. I reckon with the total cost of dlc you get to a roundabout equivalent value of the 2004 launch price taking into account inflation and the huge change in games industry throughout this time. I have purchased all dlc and I am perfectly comfortable in having sunk £80 into the game because it has given me over 800 hours of enjoyment. I suppose I could have gone to the cinema 6/7 times with that money instead......:steambored:

Because we don't want to pay 10 bucks to have extra rides. We want them for free, because that's what you expect to a game you buy. To get it updated. Not to have to buy a DLC every single time they release something new.
Time_Child Dec 23, 2018 @ 2:35am
I'm not against payed extra content, money has to come from somewhere and everyone has to get payed.

What I do find a bit disapointing is announcing two new coasters like in the Worlds Fair DLC while they're actually exactely the same coasters with different trains...
dohf Dec 23, 2018 @ 2:46am
Things that can go into DLCs:
- Additional Rides
- Additional Scenery
- Additional Career Scenarios
- Additional Game Mechanics

Things I expect in accompanying patches/free updates:
- GUI / QoL stuff (Like parkwide heatmaps for litter/crime/staff buildings etc.)
- Bugfixes / optimizations (like double digit FPS on reasonable PCs)
- Balancing (this seems to be missing completely. Has there ever been an effort to at least try to balance the economy?)
- Updating the existing career to incorporate what is now in the (base-)game
- If, for any reason, a game was released without a tutorial, that should be added in in one of the first patches (so, years ago)

So, I'm ok with the DLC, but I'm disappointed with the patch.

Then I'll pay you $20 to mow my lawn the first day you mow it then I'll expect you to show up every week afterwards to mow my lawn for no additional money paid to you.

WOW. Some people have severe entitlement issues.
