multicore support
wait, is it true that this game has no multicore support?

seriously a game like this with no multicore support in 2018 .. lame only 5 euro worth the whole game with all dlcs ..
the apology with the dx11 is limited, nope .. even dx10 can use multicore,
the multicore support got canceld for maximum cash crab thats all

the multicore support could be used in many ways,
and before now some1 talk, i know games, wich also got no multicore support because of its "engine", but surpirse, the community releases multicore mods for those games and surprise, it works ..

just a sample, 1 core with his 2 threads where everything gets together, another core for male, other core female, other core for male kids, other core for female kids other core for stuff calculations could be used .. but wait .. this would mean work and lower the maximum cash grab effect but wait again, ppl would notice way too late for a refound, who cares no multicore support ..

seriously ..i got a r7 2700x and the game would not even use 10% of its full performence because of the single core engine again, wich is kinda a shame because this game could be awsome

seriously .. i was about to buy it, but now im not so sure

You are quick to assume that Planet Coaster does not have multicore support.

To answer your question "is it true that this game has no multicore support":
No, that is not true. Planet Coaster supports a maximum of 16 threads and they are all being used by the game.

That being said, there is a limitation in DirectX 11 which is that DirectX Draw Calls are limited to a single thread. This is ultimately the bottleneck of Planet Coaster and players can notice that when playing with very large parks full of guests, rides and scenery.

The solution would be to use DirectX 12; this newer version of DirectX does not have this limitation and can use multiple threads for its Draw calls.

Unfortunately, DirectX 12 is only available for Windows 10, so upgrading the game to DirectX 12 would exclude everyone without Windows 10 from playing Planet Coaster.

so still no multi core support just HT .. still sucks, no real multi core support is rly bad in 2018 ..
dx11 can use up to 32 cores and 64 threads .. just saying ;)

the dx11 and 12 solution would be a switchable mode like battlefield 1, you can switch between dx11 or 12 ^^ many games offer this allready and kinda works like a charm .. besides who cares about not win10 users .. a win10 key costs less then 5 euro and it was free a long time ..

sry those excuses wont on me .. as i said before, they sound cheap ..

Frontier, the developer of Planet Coaster, cares about non-Windows 10 users. After all there are people who still use older versions of Windows for their own valid reasons.

Sorry to hear that you think that I have stated “cheap excuses”. I’ve spoken with some of the developers of Planet Coaster myself and I’ve seen their explanations. Based on that I’m sure that they’ve developed the best possible solutions for the game. Whether that suits your needs is something else.

They are easily verifiable technical limitations. Not everyone uses Windows 10. World doesnt revolve around you. The ability to switch DX versions does not allow the performance improvements people want with DX12. Both DX versions will have to work the same way. And DX12 isnt optimized enough for a real difference. The only improvements come from new tech within Dx12, not compatible in a DX11 enabled game.

Windows 10 was offered as a free upgrade to Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Everyone that is running this game ought to have it.
Not everyone wants to have it.

In this day and age, a lot of software is allready depreciated on older platforms, the speed of this is very fast, plus the free upgrade to windows 10 has allready helped you. I think that making it DX12 specific wont be as bad as you think :cgrazz:

Dont forget you are the same guys that have just announced that Elite: Dangerous on the mac is getting scrapped, if you actually took the time to port it properly (such as metal) you would have no issues!!

Just to be clear, I'm a volunteer moderator and not part of the development team at Frontier.

I'm just saying that there are still players who are using older versions of Windows and they don't want to upgrade to Windows 10. It is their right to stick with older versions for whatever reason they have.

There's lots to be said about Elite: Dangerous but that would be off-topic.

To stick with the topic of this thread; yes, Planet Coaster has multicore support.

Why not do what other games do and have separate dx11 and dx 12 versions like battlefield 1, vermintide etc

I can't anwer that question for you as I am not a developer. I'm just a volunteer moderator.

Ok, but it might be something worthwhile to invest in so this game can be better futureproofed. Dx12 is the future!

It would be great if Planet Coaster was to receive an upgrade to DirectX 12 for the benefit of better performance, but that's not my call to make.

It uses threads on the other cores... There is no difference. No one likes a smartass

you could always go for multi direct X support, where you support direct X 11 and 12
(like most games)
