Ingame Music DLCs
So I was looking at the PC gamer inteview, the second guy asked about music ingame and you guys said that you're working on making your own music, not like in previous games where we had real artists performing their songs.

I'd love some Latin Jazz DLCs or stuff like that. Real music, not that mainstream bs. I'm up for supporting those artists and you guys, if you'll ever think to contact them and work with them like the previous devs did. Of course nobody does a DLC cause I said I will support it, I just think that many other gamers would like that feature. Extra cash if you want that extra bit, while knowing that part of that cash goes to the bands.

I'm not saying that the music you guys are making for the game will suck or anything, it's just that... a cuban band might capture the REAL sound and vibes more than any european trying to make "something that sounds like it".

I know, you can just put the ingame music volume at 0 and open youtube or whatever and that's what I'll probably end up doing after the first 50ish hours if you guys aren't interested but... yeah, it would be awesome and a good chance to give some real artists a chance to shine too. Lots of great songs from various genres are made famous by videogames nowadays. And if somebody's like "I don't care about paying a game 10$ more cause it has copyrights to pay and stuff" they just won't buy those DLCs.

It's a win/win situation IMHO but... it's up to you.

PS: I loved some of the crystal clear answers you gave, straight to the point without much chitchatting about nothing. Keep up the good work.

I often wonder why more games don't use indie artists. Im sure it's easy enough to find talented people prepared to record music for very little simply to reach a bigger listener base.

I wouldn't support a musical DLC. "Tropico" has long had a great set of musical tracks.
Ernst Cornell Jun 20, 2018 @ 10:27pm
afaik tropico's dlc already come with new tracks sometimes (partido rhumba comes to my mind in T5)

and the OST in several tropicos already comes with several latin bands. (mamborama (T3), alex torres (T4 and T5) cesar paucar (T5), etc)

That's how my post starts lol. I know we had great tracks back in previous Tropico, that they were made by actual artists... They said they won't collaborate with artists. That's why I'm asking for this kind of DLCs to happen.

Go at 17:51, guy asking about music and listen to the answer.

Thanks all of you for expressing your point of view btw..

"We are working with a sound designer, we're composing almost everything from scratch"
Quote taken from the PC Gamer interview.

I didnt get the name of your manager, the guy in the interview, but yeah he said that so..

That's the part where I thought you guys weren't actually working with artists... and I don't mean your sound designer isn't an "artist", I just ment some famous names from previous Tropicos like Ernst Cornell mentioned in his reply.

Thanks for the answer, really appreciated. I guess we're done then, devs answer = best answer obviously lol.

Again keep up the good work, can't wait to play Tropico 6.

So to be accurate, the company works with artists and also offers own composers and the music will consist and be taken from both sources.

Just saw and heard the preview of Tropico 6 and the band/music is HOT!! Was this group of musicians put together just for the game or are they an already established band? As a professional trombonist I love it and I need to buy their stuff!! Where can I find it??

Great Job guys!!

I hope I am not breaking any rules here, the links are to the musician's official YouTube channels. But if you need to delete this I will understand.

It sounds like the music is from several sources and not a single band. So far I have only been able to track down two.

'Cuban Cigar' by Peter Godfrey

Steve Tirpak's 'No Se Que Hacer (feat. Jose Berrios)'

There is another Tirpak song that I thought was in the game but it appears I was wrong. I think it was only partially used in a Tropico 6 trailer.
