Pirate King
I've failed twice to complete this mission and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

On my second try my gold mines and corn farms were accumulating resources until the cap was reached, even though I built teamster offices right near them. I've seen workers head for the buildings with theirs carts and then... nothing. They step out and go to the tavern, but the building is still filled to the brim with resources.

But overall this map is just really difficult, I either don't make enough money to sustain my island or my happiness rating plummets by the time I reach the World War eras and I get stuck in a vicious cycle.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Focus on raiding, max budget, try to keep the pirates always raiding. Their target should be raw resources to be converted through industry: sugar into rum, logs into lumber, hides into leather. Make sure you build enough industry buildings- I built two of each and it went pretty well. I also built a dock and teamster port on the other island (I think it might be the same island, but just the side across from starting area) where I positioned all of the industry right next to the docks and placed two of the four pirate coves.

Make sure you build circuses to keep the citizen fun satiated- if their fun gets too low, they begin moving slower.

You can also steal Stonehenge and make a lot of planks and boats. You don't have to though, the mission can be completed without it.

Just follow exactly what the game want you to do, dont build so many building since this map lack of agricuture resource.
Go loot for rum and log so you can make a lot of rum and money.
I won this map in my first attempt. May be you just try to slow everything abit

Think I did the loot for coconuts and gold until I had enough to build a rum factory.

You should also have a tavern/church/housing hub in each section of the island, This way your people are not going back and forth across the map to fill happiness.

I think I did 3 farms in the far back with 3-4 ranches (goat or cattle.)

If your people are going to island hop, make sure your landing docks and such are lined up so they aint pathing all the way around.

You should also get the library on penny saver going for cash, then in WW era do tow radio stations.

I finished this mission last night at the 2nd attempt. All I did was import sugar and built two rum distilleries. This was highly profitable exporting it to the crown along with a few other minor exports from raiding and logging/ lumber. A corn farm is also pretty useful as the revolutionaries often keep requesting the production of a 1000 corn.

I first built a dozen farms and ranches on the southern part of the island. The farm/ranch efficiencies were terrible, but with the multi-culture work mode, the overall efficiency was good enough to make me a steady income. Only then did I focus on completing the missions.

Going slow is sound advice, but I'm always worried about the steady rise of the ACH during the Colonial era, especially since you can't do anything to counter it until the start of the World Wars.

I'm curious if ppl prefer to let the ACH run its course and make the Colonial era last as long as possible, or if at a certain point you just have to progress before the situation becomes untenable.
What is an ACH?
I'm referring to the Average Carribean Happiness that rises constantly and affects your people's happiness and voting rates.

I typically don't worry about ACH in the colonial era, and start to work with it as soon as I get commandos. But I wouldn't say to stretch out the colonial era as long as possible either: I don't rush, nor do I delay. Just progress what comes naturally to you.

Stonehenge is great for logging on this mission.

4th time doing that mission, still losing. When I switch what the pirates are raiding it bugs, I need to wait till everyone is idle before re-assigning raids. I hope the devs fix the bug eventually. I love the mission but that bug makes me so furious I don't even have fun :(

I'm always too short of sugar or something and then the pirates bug and I don't receive the goods but I'm dealing with something else, etc.. ARGH :P
