Black screen on startup - Normal fix doesn't work.

I've tried the fix that everyone copy and pastes (Start directx setup, delete folders, etc) but it still doesn't work. I deleted the local files and reinstalled and that didn't work. If I can't play it I want my 12.50 back.
Note: I don't give a bother if you're having the same problem, a lot of people are. Unless you have a solution don't comment.

And how do u think we should post solution if u already tried "copy and paste" fixes.. whatever this means?
Write down what u tried and u might get people to suggest other possible solutions.

Note to all people that will help me (sorry I seem mad this is causing it), I've tried the dxsetup, delete shaders, so on, and then I tried uninstalling an installing. These are the only solutions I can find for it. I know that I may be able to run it windowed and that might help.

I used Alt-Tab before while loading a map and afterwards I had blackscreen. If I didn't Alt-Tab it worked fine. Maybe that will help.

I can't even get into the game. I launch it from steam or a shortcut and it just blackscreens.

I'm having the exact same problem, I have tried every solution listed that I can find, but basically what happens is if I'm lucky I get a black screen for 10 seconds or so and then it crashes, but usually just nothing happens.

This exact problem happened to me with awesomenauts when I was trying to play that the other day, I found a forum with a solution to that problem, and it was because it didn't have a file called.. steamappid.txt, I still have to open awesomenauts through the folder, opening through steam won't work. (the dev's ended up shipping the .txt file with the game now so no more issue, but NS2 already has it so not sure why it isn't working)

Anyways, NS2 has the steamappid.txt file already and opening through the steamapps\common\Natural Selection 2 isn't working, tried making a shortcut to desktop to see if that might make some weird difference, it didn't. so as it was explained on the awesomenauts forum I found

Basically awesomenauts isn't communicating with steam or something, so literally no communication was going on in the logs, and I think that's the same issue, thats happening here, but for whatever reason the same fix isn't working for me

Try close all programs running before start the game. Also overlay, overclock, monitoring, norton, security.. just everything.

userfolderwindowsblalbla/appdata/roaming somewhere there. (appdata is a hidden folder)
