Well then there goes any of my excitement to try it. I thought the whole point of it was to have a custom launcher and installation ignore the AE shenanigans and not worrying the load orders and game updates. Not spending 10-20 dollars to use a mod pack.
Then use MO2 for a custom modlist, or Vortex for a pre-made pack from nexus.
Not going to matter if Nolvus requires me to buy the AE upgrade right?

Depends if you want Nolvus badly enough to pay for AE.

If yes, then get AE and nolvus, if no, then proceed with my recommendation.

You could also check if the "lite" version of nolvus requires AE.

Unless I'm really bored and AE is 5 bucks then I might toss some money on it but AE is just a paid mod pack and I'm against the notion of needing paid mods to use free mods so if Nolvus requires paid mods then I won't give it a try.

Nolvus is as close to a paid mod pack as you could possibly get (without risking to get sued by Bethesda).

You're missing the point. I was interested in Nolvus due to word of mouth and youtube videos but in the middle of a vanilla play-through and now I'm hearing that Nolvus requires the AE "upgrade" which I have no intention to purchase so it looks like I won't be trying Nolvus.

He is on point in regard to collection/modlist. Only the curator can help you because they are the one who compile the list.

You can try to get help here, but it isn't guarantee to work out well.

Even if you can afford AE, it isn't worth to have it. There is just too many good mod out there that isn't compatible with AE & a whole lot better. I for once prefer BBLS rather than Tundra Homestead from the AE.

<eyeroll>
When people say mods aren't compatible with AE, they don't mean AE they mean the game version 1.6 and higher (which is SE)

Unless a mod states it isn't compatible with particular CC mods, or it says AE content, then it means AE.

Well tundra homestead is almost on the same spot as BBLS so yes not compatible .... that said I know 2 mods that are also in that spot Texarium and (not on the nexus anymore) Valkyrja castle whiterun

Anna's NPCs also places world items right near Tundra. Not compatible.
