Question about tile resource generation in cities
So I've been doing some experimenting to see if I can answer this myself, and I'm still a bit confused.

The tutorial tip says that if you place a building on a tile it will be affected by whatever percentage gain that tile gives. If you put an influence generating building on a tile with +10% influence, that building will produce more. Easy. I thought I understood this.

Then I tried acquiring a tile that gave +10% energy and I placed a building in a DIFFERENT tile in the city that had nothing to do with energy (it gave research bonus only) and after it was placed, it was giving me 6.6 instead of 6 (that's 10 percent more).

So, it would seem that it does not matter where you place a building in your city. If you have acquired a tile, it will work, regardless.

I'm honestly not sure if this is right - any help would be appreicated. Thanks!

That is interesting. Some tiles give bonuses to mulitple resources. Are you sure the bonus where youy placed your research building was ONLY for energy. If it was, then I would also wonder if its a bug or a feature of the game.

Don't forget that you have additional income from loyalty

Ah yes, I forgot about that. That's probably what gave him the bonus.
This confused me too. If you read the manual, it states that the tile bonuses give their bonus to the whole city. So, going by your experience here, I think we can safely say the manual is correct. Which kinda makes more sense, having to build certain buildings on specific tiles just seems needlessly complicated for no real benefit.

There are 2 types of bonus
* Normal tiles give the bonus to the tile they are on and have building slots
* Special resource bonuses have dotted lines around them and when claimed by a city give a % bonus to all buildings in that city (they do not have any building slots)

Special bonus tiles can also be claimed by units. When claimed by a unit and showing your banners, but not inside the city walls you get the flat bonus of +2 resources per turn.

Space Marines can claim special bonus tiles with the Fortress of Redemption. Any resources they are adjacent to give the % bonus to the Space marine city.

Thank you SO MUCH for responding - but apparently I'm really slow! :)

So does this mean that once you acquire a tile in your city (normal tile, not special), the percentage bonus will happen to the city regardless of what type of building is placed on it?

Would like an answer to this.

From what I read, the normal tiles only affect the buildings on that tile, not the entire city.

Normal tiles only affect buildings in the hex.

Ah okay, so if I place a building that gives 6 requisition on a hex that only gives a bonus to research, then I get no bonus correct?

Correct!

Thanks for clearing this up, would be worth including it in the ingame help in an easier place in a future update.

Oh, so Library Space Marines buildings should only be built with a tile with Science bonus, to get that bonus ? And same with others...

I played about 10 hours and didn't even noticed...

Normal tile bonus only applies to that hex. Claiming a "-10% food" hex won't curse your city.
Outpost / special resource tiles - claimed by city - provide % bonus to the entire city.

I assume the manual is just completely wrong on p.40. Noticed it too a few days ago but didn't get around to making a thread.
