4K GUI Resolution Scaling
Hello everyone,

Just a little heads-up, we're aware that at a 4K resolution the user interface is too small and we are currently working on a scaling solution.

Thank god. I'm only playing at 2560x1440p resolution but even then the UI is just too small for me to comfortably look at

To some extent it depends on the screen size - at 40" the text is fine in 4K, but there are also much smaller displays which use 4K, hence the UI scaling solution. A number of us use 4K screens, but they are all large format (I can't really see the utility of a 20" 4K screen, but to each their own :) )

Cheers

Pip

I play on the LG 32UD99 4840x2160 4K monitor (32-inch), the game is completely messed up, cna't play in 4K there, are weird overlays all over the screen. I posted in the patch section, and the text is micro sized.

Hi, thats good news !

Playing on 2560x1440p (27-inch) either and its really hard to read for me due to text is so small.

Hope to get some scaling option soon!

Thx a lot!

best Rgs

We hope next week but don't hold us to that. Development is unpredictable...

The encyclopedia window is also too small at high resolution. The text should be bigger and the window should be much taller.

The first iteration of this should be done and ready for update tomorrow!

Well, 20" are indeed a bit small, but at 24" you get about 183 px/in, so about twice the usual pixel density of screens (96ppi), which allows incrementing the resolution by a whole step, reducing blurring.

The Google Chromebook Pixel has a density of 240ppi, for example. The point is, it's only ever going to get more diverse.

These ridiculous ppi's annoy me. It's a marketing gimick as the eye cannot detect the difference. We'll have to support them but I find the whole idea redundant! Maybe I'm just showing my age 😀

Mobile devices can easily have ppi in the hundreds, see https://www.sven.de/dpi/. As a web dev I have to deal with it all the time. You'd be surprised how crappy 96ppi bitmaps look on a 462ppi iPhone X. Either that or tiny, but iOS scales them up so the layout doesn't fall apart. That's because device pixels != CSS pixels. It's ... complicated. :]
Also makes serif fonts viable on small displays.
