What's the real use for blood imps?
I'm curious since I'm not sure I've seen them played well. I either see them wiped out immediately or the person playing them takes a big hp hit when the opponent plays a heavy hitter..

They are free card, you are essentially removing 1 card from your deck in exchage for hp, or if you want to take it that way, you pay with health instead of hp. They are good to deal support damage or better, take bridges for free, yes they can be punished hard, but that is the risk.

You can also use guardian + bannerman + blood imps, but I gave you their baisc use ;)

Ah ok. I can see them being slightly helpful with a guardian at least.

Well, with volco, you get one more firebolt for free, plus at perk 3, they hit really hard (not that you want to get to perk 3 with firebolt volco :D). With DV, you get to your DV sooner, with red, you get to 1500 sooner, etc.
If you want them played well, ask Dirion for a friendly battle.

They are very good in a spam deck like a Demon Warrior deck. If you combo with Health Puff and keep brige controll, you can restore most of what you lose.

Any card that costs 0 is insanely powerful. The 5 minions themselves are fairly strong, like a weaker scrat horde (3 mana card). The health cost is obviously the big downside, but you can offset that with either heal puff or simply winning from the tempo advantage (more minions for 0 more mana vs your opponent).

The benefits are both tempo and cycle. If you're playing demon warrior, cycle for 0 is incredible. If you're playing volco, it's a free firebolt. Even if you're playing neither, it's more power for 0 mana. You can even use the downside to fuel red golem power if that's your gameplan.

I've rarely seen them played where they weren't a handicap. Massively damaging to the opponent when countered with a boomer or colossus.

they are pretty tricky to use and 99% of the time i would say you should only have 1 blood imp in your deck if you are going to use them. but i managed to make a deck with them that got me to grandmaster so they can be quite useful in certain decks
