You don't. Why would you want to anyway? Just stay on.

You can't climb stairs though.

Where are there stairs in a scene where you're riding a horse? And why would you need to climb them?

Lots of guild masters/elders are on top of staircases.

I didn't know horses spawned in cities. I don't think they do. Just don't speak to the village elders.

They do if you are just entering the city and do walk the streets and only if you haven't gone anywhere else yet

They do in Native for certain. I get the impression it's random?

In Viking Conquest you can spawn into a village on your horse but for the life of me, I can't recall any examples of having my horse in a city.

If you equip a horse and go into town and then immediatley walk around the street, your on your horse. I found this out myself when playing l'aigle and had to walk across a courtyard the size of miami

In Native there are only a tiny number of Village Elders that it's not possible to talk to from horseback. Indeed, some can be 'reached' without dismounting even when at first glance it looks like you may have to.

As the previous poster mentioned for l'aigle, the same is true for Native: if the first option you choose upon arriving at a new town is "Walk around the streets..." then you will still be mounted and can ride around most of them to reach such as the local Guild Master (you will have to dismount to ascend most stairs, however). You will only be on foot if you do something else at that town before choosing to Walk around the streets, such as head to the castle, visit your local productive enterprise, or buy / sell stuff.

Ah, I see. Thanks folks. Clearly, I missed that detail.

I'll have to try and remember to go see the Guildmaster first from now on.
