Juno would be forced to walk through immortallity being at her core a mortal; I think this would be too cruel...it reminded me of the Trolley's dilemma: it is possible to atribute value to a life? If so, it is moral to do it?
In the end it did not seem to matter if the survivors inherit half of a destroyed world or a whole destroyed world. So I did the right thig...but then again...paraphrasing Nid before her departing: there is not right or wrong choices; there is just what happens next.
Furthermore the world serpent was way too dangerous to let live, Juno herself says earlier that we are lucky it was born without its full power so we had a chance to kill it.
After exploring all endings, I admit my favorite one is one of the worst: The Ravens don't make it in time to save Arberrang and, moreover, they're all killed by Bolverk at the feet of the White Tower. Nevertheless, Iver convinces Eyvind to complete the ritual and save what's left of the world. Juno is gone, Eyvind and Iver find the Skogr Banner strewn on the floor of the destroyed Great Hall in Aberrang... Rook & Alette get reunited with Aldis in the spirit worlds makes for a "happy" ending, nonetheless. Bittersweet awesomeness! Eyes got murky just typing all this, damn you!
According to GoG's list of success, there is an even worst ending : Sole Survivor. All life in the entire creation is wiped out and a still immortal Juno wanders the corrupted lands for all of eternity. Pretty bleak...
While Eyvin certainly has a silver tongue and does a great work of justifying his decision, I saw right through his ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. For all his talk about saving Juno's from her fate, the only person he's really concerned about is himself.
When her dabbling in mind altering is first discovered, Juno accepts her execution. Even if the Valka's sentence is unjust, revolting, and all kind of wrong, she goes through with it to protect Eyvin, because submitting will ensure that he'll suffer no consequences. She sacrifices herself to protect him. And what does our sweetheart do ? He throws everything she just did for him out of the window and completely invalidate her decision.
From what she tells us late-game, it's pretty clear that Juno's mind was made from the start of the journey and that she's at peace with her decision. She's sacrificing herself again for the sake of the world, for Eyvind to still have a world to live in and a life ahead of him. And keep in mind that she never asked for this, to be brought back as some aberrant revenant and ultimately have to suffer even more for things outside of her control. Yet, she doesn't hate Eyvind. It would have been easy to place the blame on literally anyone else - him, the Valkas, mankind, the Gods... but she doesn't. She just straightens her back and keep walking forward, even if no one trust her or will thank her in the end.
And what does little sweetheart Eyvin do ? Again ? Treats her like a child. Refusing to acknowledge that she made her decision, twice, and throwing the entire fate of the world that we fough so hard to save in jeopardy, again. So really his action here is entirely selfish, he just wants to feel good about himself and feels like he's making the right choice, even if that's invalidating Juno's wish entirely right as he says that he's doing it for her sake.
Now, I understand where Eyvin is coming from. I don't blame him for his decision, if I were in his shoes I might have done the same. He was fragile at that moment, weak, and the serpent exploited that. So while I'm sorry for him, there was too much at stake to let him live - and if it's any consolation, at least his death redeemed him after such a long journey. Rest in peace.
At least in mine it was tear-jerking since the last memories she'll have from her former life is her only friend hacking her lover in pieces while Afrun kills the entire party with the ritual. Still, she seems to forgive them all in the end... at this point Juno is basically female nordic Jesus.
That's possible ? How does that even work ?! :O
The right ending I think the one where Arberrang survives, Ravens survive,Serpent die, Alett and Iver meet in the end.
If anyone is to die in the capital,it is Rook. He will die fighting, his beloved woman will be near, and he will finally meet his family.
And Alett must survive and become Queen or wife of Eigil and save the legacy of her father)
a. Well, not THAT bad! In this scenario (Eyvind and Alfrun struck down), the "ritual" cannot be completed, so Warpness wins...
b. If you're defeated in the final boss-fight (against Bolverk), Iver+Eyvind+Juno rush to the tower top, while the Ravens die stalling Bolverk...
Can you tell me how TBS2 final fight with Bolverk (win/lose) impact on TBS3?
So just to be clear, how many possible distinct endings are there for?
All Ravens survive, aside from Bolverk/Bellower and Folka....I made some stupid mistakes in the hope "others" would do the right thing
Derdiu (horseborn) died in the city, Gunnulf died holding up a wall, Rugga died with an arrow in his head before being tossed out by Hakon.
All others survived.
Cause of that I had a super clean first run, maybe a bit too clean, I finished chapter 21 without going to Aberrang once.
In the end I had the 'good ' ending there I convinced Eyvind to do the 'right' thing, and with all characters alive including Folka, except for Ludin of cause :) he sadly never made it to Aberrang
The only question I have: I am still totally shocked by Rook dying. Can that be prevented? I remember once I almost bludgeoned Rugga to death but Od asked me to stop so I did. Could I have killed him and he would not have convinced me to go outside... to then get smoked by a random coward? I remember feeling total shock when Rook's head hit the ice.
save the dredge baby in the 1st game, and a dredge bodyguard save rook from the spear.
