BUGS - Reporting & Troubleshooting
Hello all. We hope that the BannerSaga3 experience will be pleasingly polished, but it's software, so you can never avoid bugs!

Basic Troubleshooting
  • Quit-and-Resume: Fundamental, no? You can also try restarting the Steam Client and your computer...
  • VIGF: Verify Integrity of Game Files/Cache -- This automated Steam operation is more efficient than uninstall/reinstall and can find corrupted files and fix them. VIGF can fix both "content" bugs and technical issues (e.g. CTD, "game won't start" etc.)
  • Some technical issues can be solved by freeing up more RAM, playing in Windowed Mode, playing in compatibility-with-Win7 mode (Win10 users), un/re-install etc.

Bug Reporting
You can use this thread to post bugs, but please email all bugs to support@stoicstudio.com. To help tracking and fixing, when reporting bugs & issues, please include the following information:
  • Accurate description, with reproduction steps (as many and as detailed as possible)
  • Menu, chapter, scene or battle where the issue occurs
  • Game version (seen on taskbar when the application is minimized)
  • Did you use imported save (from Saga2) or not?
  • Saves and logs (see below on where to find them).
  • Operating system (e.g. Win10 or Mac etc) and basic hardware specs (CPU, RAM, GPU, VRAM).
  • For audiovisual issues on Windows, including the report from DxDiag[support.microsoft.com] is also helpful.

Log & Save Files
Game logs (it's simple text-files) are invaluable for tracking bugs. Save files are data-files (JSON, can be opened with text-editors) containing all the information at a given state of your playthrough. Here's where/how to find logs and saves:

Windows:
%HOMEPATH%\AppData\Roaming\TheBannerSaga3\Local Store\gamelog\ %HOMEPATH%\AppData\Roaming\TheBannerSaga3\Local Store\save\saga3\
1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Paste the path into the location bar textbox and hit Enter

Mac OS X:
~/Library/Application Support/TheBannerSaga3/Local Store/gamelog/ ~/Library/Application Support/TheBannerSaga3/Local Store/save/saga3
1. Open Finder
2. Hit Command-Shift-G to open the “Go to the folder:” popup dialog
3. Paste the path into the textbox and hit Enter


Known Issues (14 Decmber 2018)
The following issues are known (already reported), in no particular order/priority. You can report these bugs again if you want, so that we can get a feeling of the severity of each one (how many players are affected). I'm also listing specific troubleshooting steps and/or manual workarounds:
  1. No sound issues should be fixed;in any case there's also this and this possible workarounds.
  2. Video issues (glitches, low FPS, sprites flickering etc): Disable graphics boost, where applicable. Users with issues on 4K could try disabling high-DPI scaling.
  3. Saga2 finale saves not found: Open & close Saga2 (possibly redo last battle), make sure you have latest versions of both games.
  4. Eirik inconsistency (Import issue) -- manual fix/edit: eirik_in_strand=1 on resume save.
  5. Language choice resetting:A manual fix
  6. Typos/Language etc -- Please email all these to support@stoicstudio.com directly
  7. Soft-locks in combat (e.g. enemies spawn on unattackable off-grid tiles). Please report all these

RESERVED -- I will try (no promises!) to keep track a log of reported issues here. Please bother reading through this before submitting a bug, to lighten-up the burden on Stoic support and speed-up the patching/hotfixing process.

After closing the game, the language always reverts back to german and doesn't save my settings.

I've got an issue during chapter 16, I believe. When you first see the cutscene of Ruin. There's a fight that happens at the broken wall. The second wave of attackers, sometimes some of the animations of characters and enemies would flicker. Towards the end of the fight on the second wave almost all the characters and enemies were invisible. I could still play and hear sounds but everything was invisible.

Thank you for these reports - we're making note of them all for QA and investigating as we can. If we need more information from anyone we'll let you know. Game is crashing after almost every fight!
It's loading for a long time, then it changes to a window mode saying "no response". And because of the autosave system I must do every fight two times including the setup of my team. That's no fun at all! I already installed the newest Nvidia driver but the problem stays the same.
Edit: 07/27 13.50 somehow the crashes have stopped for me. (perhaps because of the small patch today?). I played several hours now without crashing with the "no response" window.
Edit 2: 08/29 The "no response"-crash is back! Got it twice today!

For the audiovisual issues -- What Katie said might help. Also, FWIW, make sure your drivers are not too outdated. These are most likely memory leaks (e.g. Gestalt, Blackened82, Lunch Lady, Scarhead issues) hopefully patched in the upcoming patch/hotfix. Having lots of free RAM/VRAM also helps here.

Unplugging it helps, but is not an option, I assume?
