The Arberrang crew is usually better equipped and crewed so you tend to already have more than enough tanks and firepower.
Every playthrough in TBS1 I made sure Eirik follows Hakon.
How could I know he'll be a lot better fighting in the Darkness.
And if you say "oh well he could have found one in Strand", then I say, no, otherwise he would have had one from the start when you first meet him.
You don't know what happened on his way back to Strand (Or his stay in Strand)
Maybe during the way back he found a cold bear and catch it like catching one from Kragsmen.
Doesnt add up still. The one he captures from the Kragsman is already trained and raised to be a warbear. He could not possibly capture a pregnant bear and raise the cubs to full maturity within the timeframe of the game.
In other words, there is no way he could have one.
Or maybe he has a pet cold bear who got raised by Eirik in Strand but he didn't brought him along when he join Hakon.
That's a bit of an Easter Egg actually. You see, back when they released Factions, the first map (battle board) in the game was the Strand Great Hall, where the polar bear was sort of a highlight. It was easy to hook Eirik up with that bear (called Frostbite in Saga3) from that point on
Why wouldnt he bring all the things that would protect him along? He had no idea he would even come back!
He thought he would go to Grofheim and back.
Then he got sidetracked to Arrberang.
So going to Grofheim is not reason enough to bring the bear? There just is no plausible reason for him to have the bear unless he gets it by going with Rook/Alette.
No, that is never stated and furthermore it would be a stretch to say just because he has a skill that he has the associated item that goes with that skill. For example, I can ride a bike, that does not mean I own a bike.
