Secret Doors?
Almost finished Medical and I have to ask ... is there a tell for the secret doors I'm missing? I've found most of them off memory, but I can't for the life of me tell that they're there. It's true that in the original the blue outline was maybe a little over conspicuous, but now there doesn't seem to be a tell at all, not even the wall description at the top of the screen?

Am I missing something or ...? I'm not sure I like this. Now it's back to wall-humping AND floor humping, I'm not sure how you'd ever find that secret floor panel on the first level if you didn't know it was already there.

It's true things are harder to spot compared to the original. Mostly due to the darker lighting and the added visual noise.

That said, I don't think there are any more outright secret walls excepts those few in medical. So I don't think you need to worry about wall-humping any more going forward.

Oh you will have to wallhump. They removed all the tells from the original.

Only way to find them now is knowing the original by heart or using the sensaround module, which they removed the original function of (360° FOV) to show stuff on the minimap instead.

A visual tell, not really. That said, the sensiaround mod can give you at least some idea where a hidden room is (it displays items on your minimap).

For medical in particular there is a Super Devious one that is... I think unique. It is super simple, but I know I missed it for over an hour even knowing where to search.

Thanks, that's a good point about Sensaround I hadn't thought of. I don't particularly like it, but it'll do.

If you're talking about the 0 security, I found that one but had prior knowledge.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2983013323 (the only one i didnt forget to make a screenshot of) There are a few others, best tell is observing the walls, the hidden ones kinda stick out compared to the other textures or just hump along the walls like in the golden days of doom etc.

If you turn shadows to low it illuminates everything much better and isn't so dark.

I got the secret room achievement in research im pretty sure. Good to know I'm actually missing a secret room in medical, that would explain the 4% security.

I got the security to 0% in Medical and the next floor, but haven't found any secret doors ?

Does anyone have a list of secret doors? I found -one- on medical, but wasn't sure if I was missing more. I remember something about an Upgraded flashlight and a magnum, but have found neither, asofar.

Nor did I find anything on the second floor, yet.

Where did you find this secret door on medical btw? I haven't found any secret rooms yet and I'm not sure how to go about finding them.

In medical there is a couple actually. One is extra well hidden in the floor.

The sensearound augmentation now being a radar or sonar instead of a rear view mirror makes sense as the original aug was more or less needed for the original game's terrible controls. It still came in handy in Portable & the Enhanced Edition with their mouselook but simply turning around to see was a lot easier than vanilla classic.

Now because it's easier to turn around, the aug's original purpose was likely seen by the devs as obsolete. It does seem more useful than the original in EE though.

I think in OG medical had 6 hidden doors and floors combined.

Hopefully some will find them all in the remake and make a guide about it.

I have found 4 so far, and by comparing the OG map to where they are on this one, they are all rooms that existed in the OG, haven't found the floor one(s) yet.
