The Sims™ 3

Sims 3 keeps crashing
Does anyone know how to fix crashing problems in the sims 3, this has been happening for the past 2 days and it’s getting quite annoying. It’s not my computer because it’s well over the recommended system specs to run this game.

My game will lode but then it goes to black screen. I can hear the music but can't see anything. I have deleted game twice because of this and re enstalled only to have it happen again. My pc is a gaming pc and its not even a year old yet.

I’m able to play the game for at least a hour before it crashes I’m not sure if it’s cause of alpine county world since it’s fairly large. It’s definitely not my pc since it’s a gaming laptop.

I'll link my guide below. You'll want to start at section 3, and work your way through it to see what helps you. If you're still having trouble after that, tell us about your system, the specific issue you're having, and what you've already done to try to resolve it.

There's a mod on NRaas called Saver (I believe) that reminds you to save regularly.

I’ve currently got one installed in my game which will remind me to save every 15 minutes, I normally save after every sim day incase my game crashes to my desktop.

Uh, my laptop does not have a disc drive. What should I do instead?

I have learned to save very frequently. Also, after every play session, I delete the 5 cache files that are safe to delete. If the game crashes for me, it's usually because I forgot to save for too long.

The game gets laggy for me when I let too much stuff accumulate in my Sims's inventory. For some reason, 10 each of 10 different items does not cause the lagging, but 100 of any one item will cause a lot of lag.

I can't even play it since it crashes on loading screen. I'm on a Windows 10, have uninstalled and reinstalled with the same results. Other games work fine on my PC but so far not Sims 3. Only have base game. Is there a fix for this? Someone please help me

Since my recent data go corrupted by just playing the game unmodded but has some of the DLC (pets and generations). I had trouble getting the FPS under control, but then I figured it out.

For AMD, you only have to turn on "Wait Vertical Refresh" (in the Gaming tab > Sims3) I also decided to turn on Radeon Image Sharpening - 80% but this is optional.

When you load the the Sims3, set the FPS to 60 and your chosen resolution. When going to the Sims 3 folder (for me it's in D: Steam >steamapps > Common > The Sims3) go to the folder called Game > Bin then open the file called Sims.ini .

You have to set the MemoryUsageLimit from 20000000 to 40000000. I chose to set it to 32000000 as I have 64GB RAM but this is optional and depends on how much RAM you have and want to offer to the game to use.

Hope this helps.
