Missile Problems
Hello!
So i'm doing orbital fallout, and trying to gold it. I've completed the mission before, but I cannot for the life of me intercept the AI missiles. They send 50, and I respond with 60 because mine are often braindead and need to make up for it with numbers. Even so, I am constantly having my missiles only take out 4 or 5 enemy missiles, and in this game missiles count as their own fleet so even if i destroy the enemy ship, the timer keeps going until his missiles reach me, therefore ruining my run and preventing the gold.

I am starting as close as I can to the enemy ship, and my missiles have plenty of delta v to maneuver during their interception of the enemy missiles, but they only ever take out 5 or less. I typically use nose-forward until about 1km out, then switch to homing. Other times I will let them coast until they get close and then ill activate homing. Nothing is working and this is incredibly frustrating, especially since the AI missiles auto-intercept mine every time.

Any guidance is appreciated, thank you!

Use Devastators to intercept enemy missiles, cancel orders and manually detonate them behind to damage engines. If you send Devastators one by one, you may be fine with two-three per missile pack.

Intercepting missiles with another homing pack never worked for me, but neither for AI.

Awesome will do thank you! I didn't even realize that detonating behind their formation would do damage to engines, thanks! I also run into an issue where our formations are sometimes flying past one another, do you have any advice on how to ensure that they are directly facing one another when combat starts? I Always line up a direct trajectory for my intercepts, but this doesnt always work.

Thanks again! I appreciate it!
When getting an intercept, Instead of minimizing "closest intercept", minimize the perpendicular component of velocity.

Also, you might be getting a different encounter than the one that you planned, for example if you get an intercept with a fleet, and they've sent missiles at you, you may get a low quality intercept with that missile fleet on the way. Can be rather annoying sometimes.

Thank you for the advice! I'll definitely try that as well, I totally forgot about the parallel and perpendicular values... it's probably been screwing me a lot. Also haven't been manually detonating my nukes against missile fleets, which apparently is pretty important to do
