Although Arrowhead's no longer involved with Gauntlet Slayer Edition, you might check that out if you're looking for something with no FF in this category to play co-op. While it has screen lock, it does NOT have any friendly fire at all, and the online or local co-op is still quite fun imho. It's a challenging game, and very fun in co-op; in fact it's probably more fun with only 2 or 3 friends in co-op as a full 4 can get really chaotic, and then it's tough to keep track of your small characters on screen.
I do plan to get Nine Parchments, but as with seemingly all new game releases, Tuesday's my long hours work day so I probably can't try it til wednesday. :(
And incinerating people here is really fun, and adds to the experience, so please do try! If you don't like it, you can refund the game with Steam. Just watch out for splash damage from fireballs and don't step into each other's AOE, and you'll be right as rain.
From my personal experience, playing with two, the friendly fire is not so bad. It's with four people and a late Friday night when things get really Interesting ;)
Sorry but no. Inverting it in our game would mean you as the spell-wielding aggressor would take the damage that the other player would normally take from your spell; or you could split the damage halfways 50-50.
And clearly the whole game is meant with friendly fire in mind, I mean enemies have it also and you can even heal them by mistake.
But killing your friends is actually part of the fun! :)
Keep in mind that the game has very good checkpoints and there is 4 difficulty settings so that you can adapt the difficulty to the skill of the players in game. You can also make as said before that the friendly fire damage the one firing on its ally instead of the ally being targeted (which teach the players not to kill each other quite quickly :D)
if there was at least an option to disable it, I'd buy but as there isn't. I'm out.
Besides, all anyone here is asking for is an option. A toggle to turn friendly fire on or off, not remove it entirely. You can never go wrong with more options since it makes the game better for everyone.
The same question can be asked for the Nine Parchments: would an option to remove friendly fire in a game built and balanced around that fit in the game itself? The answer is arguably no.
The game is built around friendly fire. It's a core mechanic. Wreaking havoc in multiplayer is the game. Overcoming the difficulty of friendly fire to progress is the game.
We get what you want. And what people are saying, is that you basically want an option to remove a big part of what makes the game. And to that request, we say that not all "options" belong in a game.

That being said... There is one thing that people legitimately might have against the game. It's that this core feature is absolutly not well represented in trailers, descriptions and such. While games like Magicka and Helldivers capitalize on the idea, Nine Parchments doesn't, and that's a clear mistake from Frozenbyte. People should be aware of what the game is built on from the get go. And that's currently not the case.
Besides, resing your team takes no time and there's healing spells.
You're such a crybaby cuck lmao.
