Also would ask if multiplayer is done via steamapis, or there is chance to see this game on GoG in future?
When creating a multiplayer game, you have the choice bewteen creating a game on our dedicated servers or hosting a game on P2P. For LAN games, we suggest to use this kind of setting ;)
@Yuki: Right now, Northgard uses the Steam API to create MP games, so no GOG version at the moment. But who knows ;)
Brioche, thanks for your response, I'm guessing P2P isn't supported in offline mode with one purchased copy?
Assuming its not, I know I fit in a somewhat unique category but basically as you may know, many old school gamers like myself who are in their 30s+ have less time to play due to adulting =P.
Myself personally, when I do play games, I try and make the best of my time by mixing family and friends + gaming socially/locally. Most of my family/friends all grew up playing classics like Age of Empires etc. and enjoy coop comp stomps. Of course we can play the amazing older RTS style games but Northgard is something new and fresh that I am very interested in.
I know some people may respond with: "buy X copies of the game and this is possible with X steam accounts." While yes, I can surely pick the game up on sale eventually and get X copies of the game on X different steam accounts. The cost and trouble to do all that for one game is a bit steep when many already support offline lan play (CIV games are one example).
Once again, I understand that this is a unique request and was just curious if it will ever be possible, if not already.
Thanks!
If anyone is interested in playing OFFLINE LAN with a friend locally (with one copy) like you would with a game like CIV 5 for example, this game does not currently support it (not sure if this is planned later). The P2P option in the game still seems to either need to authenticate with steam MP API or have to ping the devs dedicated server.
I can understand why this is like this way but I only planned on playing MP skirmish mode locally with friends/family. If I wanted to play with my brothers for example over LAN, I'd need 3 steam accounts and 3 copies of the game.
If devs read this, I understand that this limitation is likely due to steam MP api.. If you have no plans on changing this, can you possibly offer a 2-4 copy bundle to reduce price significantly to make this worth the purchase for players like myself?
Thanks and I'll look forward to purchase in future if this becomes available!
