Halo farming
What can I do as the first step towards halo farming? I hardly really get any halos between chapters, as I've been recently using them to buy techniques instead. I know there are more advanced methods, but what is a good starting method I can use? Still pretty early in the game.

i think that if buy that african looking amulet from Rodin you get more halos. But be careful cause the enemies get more aggressive.

Chapter 7 again & again --> Scarborough (Hand) --> Gaze of Despair, Selene's Light or Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa. Punch the enemy for a high multiplikator.
But it´s works fine without this tools too. I get around 200.000 - 300.000 halos pro round.
Much more then in other chapters. I use this method only for the beginning.
I don´t know an easier way to get more halos (first step only).

No no no! When you're playing a game as fun as Bayonetta, the last thing you want to do is something as boring and monotonous as farming. Just bear these things in mind and you'll be making more halos through regular gameplay in no time:
High combos = loads of halos. Keep attacking relentlessly to keep your combo going. If an enemy is out of range, fire your gun at them to keep the combo going.
Use Wicked Weaves. They're worth more combo points than regular attacks.
Use Angel Arms. Torture attack an angel and they'll usually drop their weapon. Use this against them for mad points (best one for easy points is probably the polearm. Press B then twirl the left stick - super effective in a crowd.)
Fight in Witch Times as much as possible. Again, it gives you more combo points.
Finally, use the Gaze of Despair if it doesn't make things too difficult for you. Again, more points.

Plaing through Chapter 2 just once while always observing these rules can furnish you with enough halos to buy everything Rodin has to offer.

look up durga/kilgore combo, that'll make farming anything easy as pie. halo pie. don't eat halos.

The first Alfheim of chapter 9 (behind the cracked wall on the left from where you get into the starting area with the first fight) and the second one from chapter 2 (elevated platform right between the first Enchant fight and the ones with Enchants + Beloved) can net you over 10 million combo point (which equates to over 1 million halos) on normal difficulty
The plaza fight of chapter 2 (Verse 3 you can't miss it) can also net you over 6 million combo points (over 600k halos) also on normal difficulty provided you make proper usage of torture attacks and angelic weapons and obviously have the gaze of despair equipped.

Unless you're gonna buy secrets from the phonebooth there's really no need to farm extensively.

Getting repeated perfect runs of the shooting section at the start of chapter 14 will also get you 1 miillion halos per try but it's much harder overall.

You can get 400k+ halos on Chapter 7 Boss. Equip Durgas in both hands and legs, put it into electric mode. spam YYYYYYYY (infinite kicks) or YYYYBBBBB you can do it as air combo also.. youll get big combos, but I think it was nerfed, on console you could easily get 6 milions halos per run, now I barely got 800,000.

The most easiest way to do that - equip Gaze of Despair accessory and use Durga / Killgore exploit. Equipping Gaze of Despair will make enemies appear in permament "Rage Mode", but you also receive much more combo points when attacking them.

So, to use Durga / Killgore exploit, equip Durga on both hands and feet in "A" slot, and Killgore on feet in "B" slot. Durga on hands should be in "Lightning" mode, and in "Fire" mode on feet. You need to execute combo Y-Y-Y-Y-B. The last hit is a bunch of furious kicks, but right when animation starts, switch your weapons to "B" slot in mash "B". You will launch about 12 rockets right into your enemy + Fire Durga will not dissappear, making bonus damage (that's why it's called "exploit"). You will receive A LOT of combo points and also you can kill any boss in no time.

Using this you can farm millions of Halos in Verse 10 of Chapter 2.

If you are to the point of farming them, just cheat them. Unless you think its part of the experience to grind money get cheat engine out.
