Is it normal that I get stone award from every single chapter?

I'm in chapter 6 now and only one that I didn't get stone from was the first one...

You are probably dying too much. As far as I know, each skull that you receive decreases your chapter ranking by one. So, if you die 5+ times you'll receive stone even if you got good medals during the chapter.

Consumable items also add skulls partially, so you need to limit your consumables usage if you want higher rankings.

i got a lot of stone at first but went back and re played chapters for some golds

its just like people already said, using too many items and dying

i recomend loading your latest save point then use chapter select to go back and play through up to that save file then over write it, this will get you more rings and upgrade your chapter ratings.

yeah I am dying a lot. I don't know what the enmy moves are and die to some random attack. the game really penalizes you from not knowing things beforehand and it's pretty discouraging tbh..

You can also exploit the checkpoint system when things aren't going as planned, especially for those lame QTE deaths.

If you die and wish to restart from the last checkpoint instead of restarting from the chapter beginning, leave to the title screen and then select "Continue". You'll restart from the last checkpoint.

I've been going back through the chapters, collecting all the stuff that passed me by from my first playthrough (secret weapons, broken hearts, ect.) I was thinking of making normal my pure plat playthrough just because I end up going back through the game anyway but man, it is really hard to pull it off. I haven't even touched hard mode yet. :(

It's normal to get a bunch of stone awards on your first run through. Just missing a couple secret fights and dying even once or twice will do it.

The real meat of the game to me personally is clearing a chapter and it shows you all the verses you missed. I get so freaking stubborn and it feels so good to go back and find it, then to get good ratings on it.

Bayonetta is chock full of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. QTEs, overlong chapters with ridiculous amounts of verses to clear, minigames. And taking any damage at all will tend to destroy your rank.

Don't sweat the rank system too much. If you clear a chapter without dying you're nearly guaranteed Silver or Gold. Just work on getting better at what you can.

you forgot the opening cheap shots comming out of cut scenes where you need to invoke witch time like a fortune teller

they put a lot of those in also

In addition, the game is MUCH harder until you get the parry bracelet and the last second dodge upgrade. That's about the first third of the game for the dodge upgrade and it'll take quite some time for you to get the hang of the game enough to start generating the cash to buy the parry accessory.

I love this game but SO MANY PARTS of it seem mechanically designed to screw over people who play seriously for rank.

im playing on normal iv just managed to upgrade my fortitudo from stone to bronze and i have almost 300k in rings

i bought a couple of lolly pops early on but i dont use those any more

1st time iv played this game , im not sure that its that hard

If you have at least two skulls then stone reward is guaranteed. This game is hard, yes.

More like this game screws everybody, cause I'm not some platinum fanatic, but getting stone rewards all game long is kinda frustrating. Though I had some bronze and silvers even on boss fights, but still...
