If you remove radiation, why not just put GOD mode on and be done with it

I am simply amazed
The fun of the Zone is in what a foreboding, dangerous place it is. So I'd advise against toning that down in any way because it just waters down an amazing experience. This is one of those games that rewards patience and playing with care.
Personally, I love the realistic feel of the game. Last night I approached a place with a stash that was a backpack. As I got closer my indicator started sounding and then the radiation indicator lit up and I began to lose health. But I wanted that stash! So I sprinted to it, looked around fast, didn't see it, backed off and drank vodka and healed myself then had at it again. I took me a few tries messing with this including one death but I finally found the backpack there among some dead guys less fortunate than myself who probably wanted it too and guess what? The SOB was empty!!! LOL! Some bugger already beat me to it!
Now, as much I'd have liked some loot reward for that trouble I had to laugh and thought it was very cool that such a realistic possible thing would happen instead. Stuff like this makes this game great in my opinion.
Go into the game files, and then gamedata/config and open system.ltx
Ctrl+F for "radiation" and you'll find this section:

wounds = 0.01,0.2,0.4,0.6,0.8
jammed = 0.1,0.2,0.3,0.4,0.5
starvation = 0.5,0.6,0.7,0.8,0.9
fatigue = 0.3,0.6,0.7,0.8,0.9
Change the radiation values to 0,0,0,0,0 (depending to what extent you want radiation)
Go to gamedata/config/creatures and open actor.ltx
Ctrl+F for "radiation" and find this section:
[actor_immunities_gd_*DIFFICULTY*]
burn_immunity = 0.55 ;êîýôôèöèåíòû èììóíèòåòà
strike_immunity = 1.
shock_immunity = 0.55
wound_immunity = 0.55
radiation_immunity = 0
telepatic_immunity = 0.55
chemical_burn_immunity = 0.55
explosion_immunity = 0.25
fire_wound_immunity = 0.5
Change the radiation value to 0 on whichever difficulty you're playing on.
Then scroll down to find the [actor_condition] section
Change radiation_v and radiation_health_v to 0
These values control the amount of radiation present, how strong it is at it's various levels, and your ability to deal with it and recover from it. Keep note of the original values (I copied them to a sticky not) in case you want to put them back afterwards.
I've used this method, as I'm currently sick of Red Forest, copping sudden pockets of deadly radiation as monolith snipers nail me. Very frustrating when I have limited playtime as it is. Believe it or not, some of us have a life outside of gaming and don't wish to spend half our life stuck on an old game. We just want to get through, experience the story, and move on to the next game!
