Here's an Easy Fix to Disable Head Bobbing/Swaying Motion
I like many others I have difficulty with the head bobbing/swaying - whatever you want to call it. I posted a fix here, then someone else posted a better one below. Here it is:

while it is a tad over-exaggerated in this game... completly removing the head bob takes away from immersion imo.

When you walk/jog/run in real life, your head bobs... alot, your eyes and brain compensate for this, but your view still moves up and down

True, but I couldn't find a middle ground here. It would be great if I could tone it down a little, but you can't and I found the head bob too disorienting. I cant even walk around a room and look on a table at the same time, yes I found it quite exaggerated.

It's just an opinion, and I know taking the bobbing out completely loses a bit of the experience, but for me it's much more playable with it disabled.

Thanks! It really, really worked! ^_^

I've been playing videogames for 25 years, and this was the first time that a game made me a little sick with all that motion/head bobbing... (:P)

Now I can finally enjoy the game ^_^

im having a problem with this mod. i put the file in the place you said, then i went to change the false to true, saved and exited. but when i go to play it says cant find the game. what did i do wrong?

Hmm.. not sure, but I'd be happy to take a few guesses:

Guess#1 - double check to make sure when you edit the "fsgame.ltx" correctly. ANY additional spaces, or tabs can break the file. I recommend using a program called "Programmer's Notepad 2" and make sure you have "show/mark whitespace" enabled in it's options so you can see all tabs and spaces.

Guess#2 - the file you have to merge in the pack may have been merged incorrectly. perhaps instead of merging, it replaced the entire folder, deleting the other contents. either that or it isn't in the right place - double check by following the 'tree' of folders in the patch to ensure it ended up where it needed to be without moving or deleting any other files.

NOTES:

- BE SURE TO BACK UP the entire game with steam BEFORE you attempt patching it. that way of you run into trouble again you can start over without re-downloading the game!

- make sure Steam is Closed/Shutdown while attempting the mod.

**I am also going to upload a copy of my fsgame.ltx file, so you can use it for reference, or maybe even just use my file (not sure if using my file will work- but if you follow the steps above and open it with Programmer's Notepad 2 and make sure it is set to mark whitespace (find this option under the "view" menu in programmer's notepad) then it should make a perfect reference. it is the 2nd line you want to be looking for .here is a link to it:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/e0uo5cuvnk6g404/fsgame.ltx

I suggest reinstalling a fresh copy of the game before attempting to make sure it's working beforehand - unless you manually made a backup of the fsgame.ltx and the games folder tree file before you modded it (which is why it's much easier to back up the game with steam first ;)

Hope this helps!

one more note: in programmer's notepad 2, when you enable "mark whitespace" all the Spaces in the file will be represented by periods (example: ". . ." would indicate 3 spaces) and the Tabs will be represented by arrows.

just so you know what you are looking at ;)

ONE more thing: If you do get bold and try to use my fsgame.ltx file, and it works, please let me know! I will add it to the patch and re-release it for others.

It worked! Thanks a ton. I don't feel a mounting headache every time I move now.

It is enough to enter cam_inert 0 on the console, without installing anything. This setting is stored in the configuration file. The original value is 0.7 if I recall correctly, so a lower non-zero setting could be used to reduce the effect, but not entirely remove it.

Works. A much better fix, thanks. I set it at 0.2, just about right for me.
