XR_3DA.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION

I know there are other "Discussions" about this but non have a solution to them. So I want to know if anyone does know how to fix this. I have looked everywhere and gotten no where. I will explain what happened, Me and my friend where looking for some mods and found StalkerSoup and had to try it. So I downloaded it and installed it launched and played the first bit of it. Exited out and was giving my self extra carrying weight and money "yes I know I was cheating :p lol" then tied to launch the game, first 3 intro videos played and before the main menu could even show it crashed to the desktop with error "XR_3DA.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION". Even uninstalling and deleteing everything for the game and reinstalling (with out modding anything) fresh install does not fix anything. Can anyone help. I tried to contact Steam and they will not respond.

Disconnect from the internet, then start the game. The problem is that the gamespy servers are down (if you look at your bugtrap log the last line before stack trace should be something along the lines of gamespy.dll). When the servers go down Stalker will crash on startup (Pretty damn stupid IMO). Has happened several times before over the years and has never been fixed

then why does the other 2 stalker games work? and i have tried launching it when disconnected from the internet and it wont start but ill try it again

I tried this but it would not start at all being disconnected from then network. I dont get how the other 2 stalker games work fine but soc wont. If the gamespy server are down how does that affect the singleplayer and why is soc the only one affected by this.

Thank you, so much ! Hope it will work while connected to the network once the servers start running again. Won't it?

If you check the other not starting thread there is a link to a dll file that fixes the issue by not even attempting to contact the server. A suitable fix for now that does indeed work.

I had this problem on STALKER SHOC Lost Alpha. It comes up when I've not got an audio device enabled. Bmboozled me to heck and back before I worked it out, I can tell you.
