I need tips just started playing
What the hell is up with ai detection? are there skill points or a skill tree in the game I have to upgrade to have better sneak? These guys are seeing me through walls, seeing me half way running to my destination.

Skill points or levelling is a foreign concept to these games. The AI doesn't see but hear you most of the time, and while stealth is possible, it's very hard to pull off. You have to never load a save, touch surfaces that make sound, enter the line of sight (it's very wide) etc.

My advice to you is to not bothering with it.

Stealth seems to be just a thing to sneak up and cause some extra damage, glad they didn't put any dedicated detection quests in this.

OP one bit of advice I gotta make is try to avoid a fight if you can unless you're just trying to farm money. I got thousands cause most of the stuff you can find but the vendors do have some good weapons and armor. So save up as much money as you want for the good stuff. Although a lot of the good stuff you can also find. Rubbels least to me are not essential but they can help if you burn to many health packs. Also keep an eye on how many anti radiation chems you use you'll need those more than any other item. Always look out for those (won't be as crucial later when you get radiation suits).

Also don't always trust the marker since there's radiation and blockers everywhere the marker only shows you where not how, read the missions carefully and don't always go to the obvious direction that can sometimes mean death or getting hopelessly lost.

Nope, you can clear entire bases with it, it's viable and works, just very finicky.
