Custom FOV
I have just started playing this again after some time and encountered some issues.
Since I played it last I have changed monitor to a 2560x1080 ultra widescreen and the default FOV is pretty unbearable
I tried a couple of the pre set mods but for me they set the FOV in the wrong direction; I wanted to set it lower.
After having a search around I couldnt find any way to do it so I compared two differrent
xrGame.dll files and noted the change.

Using a Hex editor on xrGame.dll
The FOV is at 0053c59a and is the hex version of double the FOV you want

So:
if you wanted 90° you would convert 180 to hex (B4) and overwrite the number at the above address
if you wanted 67.5° you would convert 135 to hex (87) and overwrite the number at the above address

At 2560x1080 I found 45° to be comfortable to me which is 90 in hex (5a)

All this has probably been written before but searching Google I just kept getting the same preset mods as search results

As an aside I also tried to see if I could blindly stumble upon the entry for the vertical FOV (if it exists) but didnt.

Dave

Things like this make the world great. Thank you for doing this.

Thanks a LOT. This just made my day. I too use a ultra-wide screen and the FOV made me feel sick in this game!

It's been a few years but this thread still helped me.

Could you provide more information on how to do this? What program did you use?

I changed (I think it was 4E) to B4 and nothing happened.

I think I used Neo Hex editor (it was free).

The editor is very cool, but I do not understand anything in it either. But it is cool to look at.. Not useful for hex idots like me that is for sure.. But it is cool to see what is in a compiled file..

Thanks for this, very helpful when playing on couch HTPC.

Same thing works for Call of Pripyat, just search string in hex editor "42 F0 A7 C6 3D" where the value before the 42 is the one.
