Vsync disabled but still on?
I'm having an issue with Vsync in this game. It's my first time playing it and I like the look of the game so far, especially being a huge Fallout fan and a moderate Metro fan. However, I play on a pretty low end laptop. Playing the game at around medium settings at 720p I can get 60fps outdoors but if I drop even one frame (which happens because I have weak hardware) it shoots right down to 30. Thing is, I've got Vsync and that 60Hz option both disable, and yet I'm still getting Vsync. My frames are still locked at 30 and 60 and I'm still getting Vsync related mouse lag ( I already disabled mouse smoothing through the console). Any way I can get unstuck from Vsync?

turn it off in your gpu control panel
Vsync limits your frames at 60 not 30.

It is for screen tearing, whih happens when your hardware pumps out more frames per second than your monitor can handle. So if your monitor runs at 59 or 60ghz then vsync simply stops the game from displaying over 59 or 60 fps.

I know what Vsync does, what I mean is that Vsync is still on despite me turning it off. My framerate is still locked at 60 and drops straight to 30 under any stress instead of variable frames which is how I prefer it. I always disable Vsync because I'm running games on a laptop, which means I'm always going to get variable framerates on any games past like 2003. My problem is that I have Vsync disabled both in game, and in the control panel and yet it's still present in the game for some reason. I'm looking for a way to disable it completely. I'm fine with screen tearing, so I always disable it.

Any other suggestions? I'm itching to play this game but this Vsync issue is making it unplayable for me.
I'm fairly certain v-sync doesn't work from the ingame menu anyway. Maybe you could just disable some settings like AA (also doesn't work) and lower your vision distance, that should considerably reduce stuttering.

If your running EVGA Precision or MSI Afterburner or any other graphics card utility, there maybe a setting in there that's limiting the framerate.
If your running nvidia, you can create a game profile in the gpu control panel and diable vsync in there to override the global setting.

Beware, this game engine has its quirks. On the main menu, vsync definately doesn't work right (maybe depending on the version) and may not work at all.
On my system with a GTX580 it goes beyond 999 fps at the menu and starts a coil whine on my card. It's the only game i've got (out of hundreds) that i've heard coil whine from.

If you do get V-Sync diabled, monitor your graphics temperature.
You don't want overheating in your laptop for xmas, do you ? :-)
