Have you edited your user.ltx file? Have you installed new shaders? Or is this a vanilla install?

Were you able to play the game at all, or has it been like this since you installed it? Because if it hasn't always been like this, then the error is probably the result of changing some graphics setting to a value that the game doesn't like.

I would recommend:

- Updating your video drivers (if they're not already).

- Verify the game through Steam (Right click on the game in steam > Click "Properties" > Click the "Local Files" tab > Click "Verify integrity of game cache..."), this will have Steam re-download and replace any broken/corrupted files.

- Find your user.ltx, delete it, and then try running the game again. It's most likely located in a folder called "stalker-shoc" in your documents folder (e.g., "C:\Users\Beanzy\Documents\stalker-shoc"). If you can't find it there, open your Stalker folder (Right click on the game in steam > Click "Properties" > Click the "Local Files" tab > Click "Browse local files...") and open the file called "fsgame.ltx" in notepad. The location of your user.ltx file should be indicated on the first line (i.e., $app_data_root$...).
